Who now owns the Hollywood sign?

A couple of years ago, Hollywood was talking about seceding from Los Angeles and forming its own city. There was a fight over whether Los Angeles would still own the sign. How did all that ever turn out, or is it still ongoing?

In November 2002, a measure calling for Hollywood to secede from Los Angeles and form its own incorporated city failed by a wide margin.
