I'm not at all a horror film buff, but this one is looking rather ... disturbing. In a good way :) Lots of Internet buzz, apparently got a great reaction at Sundance.

Movie description:

A young man named Adam (LEIGH WHANNELL) wakes to find himself chained to a rusty pipe inside a decrepit subterranean chamber. Chained to the opposite side of the room is another bewildered captive, Dr. Lawrence Gordon (CARY ELWES). Between them is a dead man lying in a pool of blood, holding a .38 in his hand. Neither man knows why he has been abducted; but instructions left on a microcassette order Dr. Gordon to kill Adam within eight hours. If he fails to do so, then both men will die, and Dr. Gordon’s wife, Alison (MONICA POTTER), and his daughter will be killed. Recalling a recent murder investigation by a police detective named Tapp (DANNY GLOVER), Dr. Gordon realizes he and Adam are the next victims of a psychopathic genius known only as “Jigsaw.” With only a few hours left to spare, they must unravel the elaborate puzzle of their fate in the midst of mounting terror. The killer has provided them with only a few clues and two handsaws – too weak to break their steel shackles, but strong enough to cut through flesh and bone

Two different trailers for this film:

First Trailer (Quicktime format) (http://download.ifilm.com/qt/portal/2642103_200.mov)
Second Trailer (Windows Media) (http://lionsgate.arcostream.net/lionsgate/saw/saw_fd_300Kbps.wmv)

After watching the trailers, it seems the movie has a great premise, but the director has a serious case of ADD.

Anyone here seen it? Anyone looking forward to it?

This is the first I've heard of it, and unfortunately, the lame-ass computer here at work will probably burst into flames if I try to watch the trailer, but just from the description, I am so there. I love horror movies. I love puzzles. I love the Dread Pirate Westley. It's all good. :)

I haven't heard anything about it, I just wanted to say this was a great unintentional pun.

Just go find a computer that works - if you like the description, you'll love the trailers.

I predict lots of bad puns: "My eyes are sore: I just saw Saw" etc.

hate to bump my own thread, but I'm quite curious about this film, esp. anyone who has seen it, but even what you all think of the trailers.

I'm confused. Every description of the movie I've read, including the one in the OP, describes a movie that has nothing to do with the Quicktime trailer (can't view the WMV for some reason).

What's the dealio?

The trailers are teasers - introducing you to Jigsaw's style, with two of his earlier murders, and giving a (very) brief introduction to Glover's character. The synopsis is the plot of the actual movie.

I would just like to take the opportunity to say that...

HOW FUCKED UP IS THAT?

...is the coolest movie tagline ever.

And it looks like it could be good. (On the other hand, S7ven looked pretty appealling on the strength of its trailer, too.)

I don't know if it'll make it to the theaters around here, but I'm definitely marking it as something to rent.

Looking forward to it. I like the dark movies. Seems like a cross between Cube (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0123755/) and Seven.

Did you see the international posters for the film? I have a hard time seeing Canadian or U.S. theatres putting those up. Here are links to the two posters from CHUD.com...

And here's a CHUD.com review (http://chud.com/reviews/saw.php3) of the film.

Anyhoo...
