Quick! before they change it! Go to CNN and check out this (http://http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/West/08/01/missing.woman/index.html) bizarre photo in the Lori Hacking story.

I think it's a still from a movie called Open Water.

But still.

Weird!!

Actually, on second thought, I don't think that photo is from that movie.

But what the heck is it?

Well, maybe they changed it, but all I get is a pic of a landfil with a backhoe arm in the foreground.

Yeah, I just see the backhoe. What was it originally?

No... they didn't change it. Instead, I'm an idiot.

It IS a backhoe at a landfill. I thought it looked like two hands/forearms coming out of a lake/ocean. Damn. have to remember to drink my coffee BEFORE I post, not after.

What a silly person I am. Still, it did kinda look like that. (if you squint real hard, I guess)

(sigh) And now for my fourth (out of 6) reply to this thread. (I swear I'm not padding my post count--I couldn't care less about that.)

Dear Moderator-- please close this thread. It is just too ridiculous even for MPSIMS. Or, leave it open to broadcast to all Dopers what a supreme goof I am.

Thanks,
ILMV1

HA! (I'm laughing with you, not at you)

It does look like hands, so don't be too hard on yourself. It's also quite blurry.

It looks like a drowning android.

No, don't close the thread! I wish to discuss drowning androids.

I saw hands coming out of waves-- probably because I was expecting to see a frame from a movie called Open Water.

Then I read the capture and saw what was actually there.

Funny, that.

When drowning androids, I always clean out their oil tank first. This speeds up the drowning process, minimizes evidence and shows consideration for the L.A. River ecosystem.

Me too, then I looked at it for a minute, and looked at the article...and I realized what it was.

And I don't drown my androids. I prefer to disassemble them and use their component parts as artwork in public places.
