I got back from my 11 week adventure in Australia and India on Friday.
I spent my time working in hospitals (med student, 2 years left of my degree) and travelling in both countries, had a fabulous time, avoided illness and injury, and came home in one piece.
I arrived at Dublin airport, and Irishfella met me, took me outside, and got down on one knee to propose. Of course, I accepted him. We had one day to ourselves before we told our families, and it's all been a little hazy since then. It seems that absence really did make the heart grow fonder. He said he realised how little the idea of spending the rest of his life with me scared him, compared to spending the rest of his life without me.
We're planning a wedding for next August, so I don't have to organise something during my final year of med school...but it does mean I'll spend my last year as a student as a married woman!
I've been with Irishfella for 3 years, two as a long distance relationship and we've been living together since January after he moved to Dublin for me. All I can say is, according to all the rules, we should never have lasted this long, and I should never have gone gallivanting without him.
Screw the rules, I'm getting married to the most wonderful man on the planet!
