The only reason I ask is because in this (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=277112) thread she refers to it as "degenerating into flirting". Now I have NO problem with her shutting down the thread, it was the inappropriate forum. I just think a little harmless flirting always lightens things up.
Just curious.

I haven't read the thread. But generally if an issue has been dealt with and the thread continues to attract meaningless or irrelevant posts (not saying that's what happened) it is fair game for closure. Often threads get closed for perfectly innocent reasons.

Flirting is generally considered mundane and pointless, one's humble opinion, or pretty hot and flamey. So, there are some fora where it is welcome, and others, not so welcome. This would be a not-so-welcome one. Plus, in this and GQ, the mods have been known to step in and close threads on their own discretion once the question has been answered, since that's what that forum is specifically for.

Oh I know. Like I said, she had to shut it down. I was just curious.
I haven't had a reason to question a mod's ruling yet.

Plus I was so darn proud of myself that I learned to make a link on the word. I had to test it, too.

I did read the thread, and there was no discernible "flirting" in it.
So, I conclude that Tuba simply wanted to close the thread because any discussion of Cecil stresses her out, but she didn't want to say that in so many words.

Just curious. My interpretation was that she meant it in the context of an ATMB thread. Flirting is probably best suited for MPSIMS.

Perhaps there should be a 'General Flirting' forum. ;)

Oh, I have no objection to flirting, per se. Y'all can play with yourselves as much as you like . . . it's just not appropriate for About This Message Board. I don't see the forum listed as "About This Message Board and Messing Around," do you?
As for you, "the first supraliminal," what in the heck are you talking about?

Just look at some of the "picture" threads going on now. Now that's flirting. But the Cecil thread was serious (at least somewhat) and it did kind of trail...off...in the later posts.
So, TubaDiva...how you doin'? ;)
I kid! Come on, you know somebody was going to...
