Just curious, some of them can get pretty big.

I can't provide a cite (it was at least 20 years ago), but I distinctly recall a news item about a man in the DC area who was struck in the chest by a model airplane, and killed. You're right, some of them are quite large, and they move along at a pretty good clip.

Here's a very recent story about someone being killed by a model airplane (http://www.bmfa.org/news/pr_112003.html). The victim was a 13-year-old girl (another article about it (http://www.wimbledonguardian.co.uk/archive/display.var.436045.0.grieving_family_seeks_ban.php)).

My father tells a story about a friend from his neighborhood back in the 50s. The kid had a wire controlled model airplane and he flew it into the electrical lines. The kid died. My father decided to become an aeronautical engineer because of the event.
