I've been toying with the idea to dress up as a Dementor .

Shred some black garbage bags around me, find and Edvard Munch 'The Scream' Mask, do something fun for the nails and go out and scare the crap out of kids.

Dementor! Great idea! I'm going for "creepy undead pirate" ala Pirates of the Caribmmmhmmm (can't spell right now, sorry):D

Well with any luck, I'll be going as "Father"

I'm hoping my daughter is doing well enough in school that she can miss Monday and be with me on Halloween (it's her birthday). Last year, she was supposed to miss Friday, but she had been failing in school and I didn't want her to miss.

A Forking Cork Socker this year.
Imagine a punching bag head gear extension thingy with a punching bag full of split corks. ;j

Well...originally, I was going to be Gambit, from the X-Men, but I've since rethunk that idea. I have seen pictures on the web of other people who attempted this, and they look, in a word, craptacular. I'd also want to go the full nine yards and get the eyes right, but that require $300 contact lenses! So that idea's out.

Since then, I've thought of other costume ideas that will let me use my big, leather coat. I'm thinking maybe Spike, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. But I'm hesitant to bleach my hair.

I'm going as Black Mage, of 8-bit Theater/Final Fantasy fame.

"Fox News": power suit, microphone, fox ears and tail. Pretend to "interview" other partygoers. About twenty seconds into their comments, scream at them to "shut up, shut UP! SHUT UP!" Lather, rinse, repeat. "Does John Kerry look French to you?"

Like most Halloweens, I'm gonna be a guy who watches a little tube then goes to bed early, but I thought I'd mention a costume that a friend, who happened at the time to be a stripper, came up with: she was in a princess -type gown (but skimpier, of course), a tiara, and carrying a big-ass pair of steel pliers. What was she? Why , the tooth fairy, natch...

For Halloween, I'm going to be 5'10" and around 190 lbs.

If I could dress as Master Shake, my life would be complete. But then I realized that

1) I have nowhere to go on Halloween
2) I have no idea how to get a Master Shake costume
3) I'll probably have a final project to write anyway that night.

So I guess I'm going to be a loser college nerd for Halloween.

I'm going to be a black man or black girl haven't decided yet. (I'm white)

My black friend is going to be a white man.

Not sure how we're going to pull this off yet? hopfully there some make up out there on the market for this.

There is a B-Hollywood movie in this, I am sure.

White man in black face = Racist
Black man in white face= Scary , irritating mime.

Comedy Silver!

I'm going to be...

IN VEGAS BAYBEEEEE!!

Y'all are welcome to come along.

My friend that I'm going with wants me to dress up as Britney Spears in a schoolgirl outfit. That would be hideous on a level that I'm not sure I want to deal with.

*shudder*

A bunch of my classmates and I are considering doing a Rocky Horror thing. We've got a tall blond guy to play Rocky, a girl who improvised a Magenta costume two years ago who'd love to do a reprise, and a skinny, dark-haired guy to do Dr. Frank N. Furter. We still need a bald guy for Riff and a Brad, but I think with some cajoling we have a perfect Janet.

Me? Eddie. ;) I've always been a Meat Loaf fan, and I've got the right build (though it's not nearly as extreme). Plus, I could throw the costume together from some thrift-store denim.

For Halloween, I'm going to be asleep. Our neighborhood, once filled with all manner of hobgoblins and witches, is now home to indifferent teenagers. The few that do stop by just ask for beer.

I think I'm going to go as a bag of jelly beans.

I'm always something kinda slutty (which isn't particularly clever or unique :) ). I view Halloween as my chance to unleash my inner drag queen. Last year, I was a devil girl in a catholic school girl outfit with thigh-high vinyl boots. I've also often been Bettie Page and She-Hulk. This year I'm toying with the idea of being a cyber Geisha and combining this costume (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=19255&item=5524001030&rd=1) with this wig (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=19255&item=5525071742&rd=1). But I'm pretty busy so I might just do the Bettie Page thing again...

Sad and lonely, that's what. I miss treat or treating.

I did find an Edvard Munch The Scream mask (actually TWO of them) at the Salvation Army today.

Only wearing something like that that someone else was breathing on just gives me the heebie jeebies.

And if I cleaned it up with some bleach or ammonia, the residue would be on the plasticy and stink and give me a migraine.

That would be bad.

I think I will dress as a SAHM.

I'm going to be performing for a group of people diguised as drunk Parrot Heads. Of course this group of people seems to disguise themselves like that a couple of times a week. :)

Depends on whether or not I have anywhere to go besides work. If I do, I'll reprise my old Spike Spiegel (of Cowboy Bebop fame) costume, of which I've posted pictures in various (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=272683&page=2) threads (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=276941) around here.

It may be unoriginal, but I keep adding to it. Last year my dad spray-painted a wig, bought a faded maroon trench coat from Goodwill, wore my katana on his back, and went as Vicious. My best friend decided to do a spur-of-the-moment Ed costume, as can be seen in the photos. I know a girl who, with a little prodding, will make an excellent Faye. Now all I need is a huge guy who's willing to wear a fake bionic arm, and we're good to go.

I'm probably not doing anything. I'm such a loser *sigh*. But I did find a costume at wal-mart that I really really really want... It's a horse that fits around you, like you're riding it, but your legs come out of the bottom so you can walk. But it's for 5-year olds.

Well, we don't do Hallowe'en in Australia. But I will be 'in costume' - my choir robes as we sing first Vespers for the feast of All Saints (All Hallows) on 1 November.

I have no idea. I want to dress up to take my boy trick or treating (he's about 18 months old), but I don't know what to be. I was thinking devil (I found this great red dress), but I'm in MN and it's just too damn cold for that. He's a dragon, so I'd like to find something to go along with that.

Yeah, no clue. :)

Be the damsel in distress! You could even get That Guy to be the knight in shining armor!

Note: "That Guy" is what I call my son's father in chat, not to be confused with "ThatGuy" the SDMB poster.

Thanks for the idea, bouv. :)
