Wally's Song

Sitting alone on a dark moonlit night
Telling myself that I'll be alright
Knowing I'm lying - I'm lost through and through
Lingering in memories of a friend that I knew
Then a twinkling sparkle catches my eye
Just one of the thousand tears of the sky
And though charts and books won't carry Wall's name
Somehow I know this is his all the same
This twinkling fire, this mischevious flame
Is his smile all over and I cry out his name

And the world just goes on minus a friend
But what'll I do when the calm darkness ends?
When I can't see his star in the sky?
I pray I won't let his memory die

As I stare at the crosses of stars in the sky
I clench my fists tightly and ask the night why
And where do stars go when dark finally ends?
And how can I get there to be with my friend?

Then a feeling descends, calming the night
and I feel someone with me as stars twinkle bright
My heart turns to water: tears cloud my eyes
As the star dances merrily - a wink from the sky
And suddenly an answer appears in my mind
And my inner-soul tension starts to unwind
Where do stars go during the day?
They're never quite gone - it just seems that way
Though we can't see them they're always up there
Reminding us all of someone who cared
For memory's a thing never taken away
Just occasionally misplaced in the light of the day
And if I need a reminder I needn't look far
Just gaze up above at a mischevious star

- Anthony Sherratt

Thanks for the kind words. I hope I helped bring some comfort.

I'm finding it a bit tough right now and hard to muster enthusiasm for the board atm so I'm having a few days away from all this.

Peace all.

Very nice. Now I have the image of Wally looking down from his special star calling me a putz. (that was sarcasm, in case you are humor impaired.)
