Could someone please explain how to search through old posts? I'm sure its incredibly simple, but for the life of me I can't find the search function.

It's not a dumb question at all, actually, and the answer is quite simple. As a guest, you cannot search. That function is only available to registered members.

There are, or were, threads where guests could request searches on matters of particular interest to them, and registered members would courteously run a search and report results as links.

I really really hope you've read the FAQ. When I was new, I read through it and it answered a TON of my questions.

Welcome! Look through ATMB for a "search questions for guests" thread and ask there. Lots of people are willing to help out.
