Accent question about "Shaun of the Dead"

In the movie Shaun of the Dead, what was David's accent? (David is the "twat" character, the nerdy guy with the girlfriend and a crush on Liz). I couldn't place it. The actor's IMDB entry (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0602836/) says he's from Ireland, but it didn't sound to me like any Irish accent I've ever heard.

Dylan Moran is certainly Irish. iirc his accent in Shaun was no different than it usually is.
