Girls Stigmatic in 1930's Rhode Island?

I have dim memories of seeing a book once..it related the case of a teenage girl who began to exhibit the symptoms of stigmata (the wounds of Christ) in Woonsocket, RI. I beleive that this was sometime in the 1920's or 30's.
Anybody here know of this case? Was ot ever officially investigated?
I'd appreciate a link.
