If you have never dieted and maintain a "normal" weight (within height/weight chart recommendations-I realize there is some room for interpretation there. I'll leave that up to you.), I want to know what/how much you ate today or yesterday. You can't have ever in adulthood intentionally tried to gain or lose any significant amount of weight.
Hope to hear from you.

Male, 18, never dieted.
Today I ate a bowl of turkey rice soup, 2 bagels with creem cheese, a salad with ranch dressing, a lemon danish and a glass of cranberry juice for breakfast.
For dinner, I just had a chicken breast sandwich with provolone cheese and guacamole, a large roast beef and cheese wrap, and a bottle of Vitamin Water.
Everything was chosen solely based on taste.

So far today I've only had two Cokes and two Pop Tarts. I'm about to make spaghetti with meat sauce.
Yesterday I had a cheeseburger and potato chips, then a bunch of finger-food at a party.

Female, 22, never dieted (to lose weight- my blood sugar's all wonky so I stay away from sweets).
Breakfast:
2 pieces of wheat toast. One with peanut butter and jelly (both organic, no sugar added), the other with I Can't Believe It's not Butter and a fried egg.
2 pieces of bacon
1 cup of coffee with cream, no sugar
Lunch: 1.5 cups of pasta salad with pesto, hazelnuts, and fried chicken breast
Dinner: 2 Cups of stew with chicken, pasta, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, and mushrooms. One medium apple. Desert was a square of dark chocolate.
Snacks: string cheese around 10am, and I snack on nuts throughout the day.
I eat high-protein because I can go longer without being hungry, and it keeps my blood sugar on an even keel.
Female, never dieted. I had coffee, 2 croissants with butter and marmite, applepie with whipped cream, vegetable soup & 2 tomato/cheese-sandwiches, more coffee and chocolate cookies, lasagna, chocolate ice-cream, more coffee and more pie.
In between: salted almonds, olives, chips and in the middle of the night 4 Twix bars.
I'm 1.72 meter, My weight is around 50 kilo. [one week I'm 48, next week I'm 52 kilo]
[I haven't got my converter in handy. Forgive the Dutch measurements] :)

Male, 22, 145 pounds
Today:
Frozen tv dinner for supper (don't know what type.. It was chicken with mashed potatoes. I ate both chicken filets and about a quarter of the mashed potatoes.
1 Pepsi to go with it.
2 doughnuts...1 cup of coffee with cream and sugar.
Yesterday....
Duck filets (ate out) Not too much though, because I got hungry later and had to snack on cookies and pork-rinds. Two cokes, one red wine. One Omelette with ham and cheese, two coffees, and a biscuit.
That's it...

Female, 24, 5'
I'm 5 months pregnant, so take that into consideration, but I'm not overly gaining weight. A lot of what I eat are small meals so I don't get sick.
Bagel with cream cream and strawberry jam
Bowl of Easy Mac
Ham and cheese sandwich
2 packs of Gushers
2 small servings of pot roast with vegetables
A little bit of rice
3 pieces of chocolate
Bowl of cherry vanilla ice cream
Lots of orange juice and water
That's all I can think of what I had yesterday.
Female, 18, never dieted. I've not had much of a problem maintaining a constant wait. While I don't go out of my way to eat healthy, I try not to go too overboard on the junk food.
Yester day I ate:
One of those granloa bar type things
bowl of broccoli cheddar noodles
a couple handfuls of puppy chow
some chicken from chicken noodle soup, probably enough to equal one chicken breast half
a brownie
lots of juice
probably random other things that I can't remember, I snack a lot.
Female, 29, 5'7". Never in my adult-life have I been on a diet to lose weight. Fortunately, and maybe thanks to genetics, I've always been able to maintain a healthy and constant weight without having to think about it.
Now I do try to avoid processed foods and I exercise regularly. Let's see, what did I have to eat/drink yesterday:
2 bowls of cereal
granola bar
bagel
couple handfuls of trail mix
2 slices of homemade pizza
1 glass of red wine
lots of water throughout the day
I think that's everything. Now that I think about this, I really should eat more fruits & vegetables.

Yesterday:
Breakfast: Bagel and cream cheese, cup of coffee

Today (so far):
Breakfast: Coffee (usually I also have a scone or a slice of whatever loaf we have going)

Yesterday was somewhat skewed as family came over so we went out for the afternoon and evening. I don't usually drink so much coffee. I really need to eat more fruits and veggies though. My weight does go up and down somewhat, but is fairly steady.

Today I ate a bowl of Red River cereal with soy milk and brown sugar. I'd have had a smoothie but we were out of bananas. Cheese pizza for lunch, I regret it, it's sitting funny.
Yesterday I ate cereal (exactly like today) and a smoothie (bananas, juice, soy milk, mango); Vegetarian Portobello and Swiss burger (is this delicious product another reason to envy Canadians? I think it might be ...); dinner out was hot and sour soup, spring roll, Assorted Gluten and Soy Products Platter, and Chinese Mushrooms and Mixed Vegetables on noodles, with fried tofu. Yum!
Why do you ask?

Mail, 53, never dieted - though my wife and daughter are dieting, and I eat the same things they eat for dinner, but with no portion control, and with uncontrolled deserts, etc. I have lost 5 pounds on this non diet.
Yesterday I had a bagel with cream cheese and lox for breakfast, some turkey corn soup for lunch (two big bowls worth) spareribs, rice, and Sphaghetti Squash for dinner, and birthday cake for desert. (It was my birthday :) ) BTW, I have blood pressure which is low but not too low, and very low chlorestrol, without doing anything to control it. Some of us just got lucky in the genes department.
Yes, everyone should incluse dog food as part of a healthy diet!
No, puppy chow. Like the stuff you make with chex mix and chocolate and powderd sugar.

Yesterday: Pancakes & sausage, about 5 Oreo cookies, small steak with sauce, cheesy potatoes, cooked carrots, salami sandwich, tea with honey, lots of coffee
Today so far: Salami sandwich, cheese stick, an Ensure Plus (350 calorie nutritional drink), Doritos and salsa, packet of cheez crackers, and a Tootsie roll. Lots of coffee.
I don't know what I'm having for dinner yet, but I'll be having another full meal at least, plus some cookies before bed. I don't know if I qualify for your study, as I've actually made an effort in the last year to gain 10 pounds. I did gain 5, but I can't seem to get the rest.
Male, 22, 6'3. I've never tried to gain/lose weight but according to my Body Mass Index I'm a bit underweight.
Today's food.
Breakfast (normal)
Glass of orange juice
2 Weetabix with sugar
Cup of Tea
Lunch (normal-ish)
Ham sandwich (white bread, home made with Tomato ketchup on)
3 of those nut crunch bars (I think 2 were Trackers and one was a Frusili)
An orange
[normally I have a small cake too)
Dinner (very un-normal)
A 9" thin+crispy ham and cheese pizza
Last night's dinner was 2 quarter pounders, chips (fries to the Yanks) and peas.

Female, 24. I'm a bit underweight by the chart, but I'm very fine-boned. Today I've had some leftover tuna casserole, cereal, and two Cokes so far.
Yesterday, for dinner, vegetable soup and cornbread. (And Coke, of course)
Lunch, tuna casserole and Coke. I've got something of a Coke problem.
Breakfast, who the hell are you kidding? :) Midmorning cottage cheese and pears.
In between all that, there's a bag of candy corn and a bag of Reese's Pieces I've been spoiling my appetite with for days. Snarfle snarfle. I also graze a lot - always putting something in my mouth. Chips and crackers and cereal and things. I swing between eating big meals and not eating much at all - I just eat when I'm hungry (or when there's food just lying there and I'm bored, I guess.)

Female, 26, never dieted as I'm opposed to anything that's going to make me grumpy and food-obsessed, healthy weight according to Body Mass Index thingymajig.
Yesterday:
Breakfast: Full English, consisting of 2 pork sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, 1 fried egg, mushrooms, baked beans, 3 slices brown toast with butter; coffee; glass of freshly-squeezed OJ.
Lunch: None - still digesting breakfast!
Dinner: Baked potato with butter and sour cream; later cheese, onion and mayo sandwich on wholewheat bread; 2 glasses white wine.
Today:
Breakfast: Whole wheat cereal with semi-skimmed milk, no sugar; coffee with semi-skimmed milk.
Lunch: Oyster mushrooms on foccacia bread, with small portion of fries and sweetcorn.
Dinner: Brown rice and spinach bake, glass of white wine. Later I shall have a small bar of fudge.
I probably should be the size of a house, and to be honest my weight is creeping up as I get older and my metabolism slows down. I try to eat sensibly during the week and indulge myself at weekends, and I rarely eat between meals.

I've never dieted and I eat all the time.
One of my children is overweight/fat.
One is not fat.
I figure that perhaps eating a lot of small servings instead of meals (called browsing in the diet books) has made the difference.
I'm sure we all eat the same foods, but perhaps in different ratios.
I just wish the feds would design some diet tests to sort out once and for all if a diet works or not. This is not rocket science, and it's more important than any Mars rover.

31 year old female, never dieted, currently 9 months pregnant but have only gained 27 lbs (13 kilos) during the pregnancy. Have previously been overweight but lost it a couple years ago by quitting booze and cigarettes and by starting a regime of pretty heavy duty exercising.
I eat three times per day, no snacking. This is what I ate today:
Morning: Bowl of Corn Flakes with a little sugar, a banana, small glass of orange juice, B9 vitamin, skim milk
Lunch: Tuna sandwich on a pita with lettuce, tomato, mayo and boiled egg. Two slices of cheese (camembert), a green apple, lots of water
Dinner: Piece of steak, carrots in cream sauce, small piece of chocolate cakey thing, water, tea.
I will wake up at 3 am to eat a yogurt and a piece of hard cheese, though. If I wasn't pregnant, I prolly wouldn't eat in the middle of the night.
I don't own a car and walk to the store, to the library, to school, to work, to my friend's house, etc. If I take the Metro, I deal with a lot of stairs. When I'm not pregnant, I run three times a week for an hour.
