The site is part of Download.com
Granted few, if any, big names. But if you like to listen too local bands like I do..this site is right up your alley.
They are from bands and singers that want to get their music out to the masses.
Some good.
Some great.
Some suck.
I never knew bluegrass was so big in Sweden.

I'll check it out. I was bummed out when C-net took away MP3.com but maybe this will be pretty cool too.

Hey, free stuff!
They have some stuff by Unexpect, whose demo I've been waiting for. They'll probably be one of my new favorite bands once they have their first album out.

While were on the subject, I just downloaded a BUTTLOAD of Mp3s from Jello Biafras Alternative Tentacles (http://www.alternativetentacles.com) label. Everything from country (Slim Cessna's Auto Club) to skate punk (JFA), Wesley Willis, and a bunch of lefty spoken word stuff. There's some great stuff here for any musical taste, free for the taking.
Here's a massive collection of links to free and legal mp3 downloads:
Red Ferret Journal: One Million Free & Legal Music Tracks! (http://www.enorgis.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php)
I'm very fond of the first mega portal link from that list - Soundclick.com (www.soundclick.com)

www.ampcast.com is another site with good but indie bands.
I've some of my own music on download.com and ampcast.com.
From spending time on both, I think the quality on ampcast is better.

If you're a Deadhead, you'll love it.
Lots of indie bands. Be sure to check out Robert Randolph and the Family Band.
Everything from country (Slim Cessna's Auto Club)I saw these guys open up for 16 Horsepower (who are amazing.) Fun show.

I strongly recommend Soundclick.com, and not only because that's where I have my music hosted (*coughlinkinmysigcough*). There's some good stuff there.
