It's just too complicated right now to explain why I need to know this, but I'm looking for songs that either
a.) have the word "Dream" in the title
or
b.) are about sleep and dreams.

The only ones I could think of right off the bat were "Mr. Sandman" and "Dream a Little Dream Of Me."
All advice appreciated!
:)

Sleeping Analeah (don't know who wrote it, my copy is a cover by Nick Cave)
I Go To Sleep - Chrissie Hynde/The Pretenders
In Dreams - Roy Orbison
Dreaming - Olivia Newton John
Sleeplessly Dying - can't remember. Some gothy chic from the 80s.
(All I have to do is) Dream - Roy Orbison
I Have A Dream - Abba

That's about all I can think off, offhand.

My taste in music is obviously quite, quite disturbing.

The entire score of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" comes to mind.

Also "Pilate's Dream" from Jesus Christ Superstar, "Stranger than You Dreamt It" from Phantom of the Opera, and "New Ways to Dream" from Sunset Boulevard.

Cheap Trick - The Dream Police

The dream police, they live inside of my head.
The dream police, they come to me in my bed.
The dream police, they’re coming to arrest me, oh no.

You know that talk is cheap, and those rumors ain’t nice.
And when I fall asleep I don’t think I’ll survive the night, the night.

’cause they’re waiting for me.
They’re looking for me.
Ev’ry single night they’re driving me insane.
Those men inside my brain.

The dream police, they live inside of my head.
(live inside of my head.)
The dream police, they come to me in my bed.
(come to me in my bed.)
The dream police, they’re coming to arrest me, oh no...

Bob Dylan's Talkin' World War III Blues is the story of his dream where he's the only survivor. This might be the one Reality Chuck referred to, I don't know.

Thanks for all the titles, y'all! There's just one thing I didn't think of before, though... the older and more traditional the songs are, the better. It'll be hard to work in the newer ones.

"Marble Halls (http://www.enya.org/lyrics/sm10.htm)" by Enya
Also "Dreams" (http://www.enya.org/lyrics/fp09.htm) from The Frog Prince score? by C. McGettigan performed by Enya, and "The Frog Prince" (http://www.enya.org/lyrics/fp08.htm) by Roma Ryan, performed by Enya from the same score.

"I May Not Awaken (http://www.enya.org/lyrics/xs10.htm)" by Roma Ryan, performed by Enya

"The Song of the Sandman" (http://www.enya.org/lyrics/xs12.htm) by Roma Ryan, performed by Enya

How about "Bedtime Story (http://homepage.ntlworld.com/alan.stuart/music/madonna/bedtimes.html)" by Madonna? Bjork helped write that song. The video (http://launch.yahoo.com/ar-256352-videos--Madonna) is trippy.

If you want a spooky mood, Marylin Manson's (http://launch.yahoo.com/ar-256198-videos--Marilyn-Manson) cover of "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)"

Also spooky would be "Lullaby" by The Cure. (Check out the video (http://launch.yahoo.com/ar-310854-videos--The-Cure), scroll a bit to find it.) Here are the lyrics. (http://www.lyricscafe.com/c/cure/093.htm)

I meant to add, that as you can see by the soundclip, most of the Enya stuff can fit in, despite the synthesizers they still sound timeless because of the vocalizations.

Or how about "All I Do Is Dream of You" (http://www.theguitarguy.com/allidois.htm) (1934).

(Later recordings by Dean Martin and Perry Como, among others.)

I just found out that "Marble Halls" was written in the 1800s (http://www.contemplator.com/folkmid.html). Scroll down to the "Unhappy Love, False Love, and Seduction" catagory, and click on "I Dreamt I Walked in Marble Halls", it seems I can't link to the correct page on that site directly.

Can a cartoon song make the list? There's an old Bugs Bunny cartoon where he is dreamily languishing in a small sailboat(?) that is slowly spiraling upwards through the clouds. While doing so, he's singing these lines:
"Someone's rocking my dreamboat,
Someone's invading my dreams..."
Don't know if it was a standard of the time, or written expressly for that cartoon.
