Why is it that if I am on AOL I get cut off quite a bit; perhaps 1 or 2 times an hour. But, if I minimize AOL and use Windows Exporer or play an online game, I never get cut off?

Well, I can answer part of this question. If you're getting cut off 1 or 2 times an hour, then it's because you're inactive in AOL. When you're playing an online game, there is modem activity, so you're not going to get cut off there. But as for using Windows Explorer, can't answer you there. Unless you mean Internet Explorer...

Yes, that's what I mean, Internet Explorer on Windows (vs. Netscape). But it's not due to inactivity. If I'm browsing on AOL, I can click on a link and wait for about 30 seconds before hearing the dreaded, "Goodbye!"
However, I NEVER get booted off while using Windows Internet Explorer.......

Besides AOL being an unstable and unreliable program that takes over your system. You aol is probably having some issues. You may want to look at the aol adapter. Perhaps it is corrupt or something of that sort. Or just use what knowledge you have now and minimize the product and go with something more stable.
