If this person is in the bad of shape...you need to call someone and have this person commited if you think they would hurt themselves. No one on this board is equipped to handle a suicidal person. The best thing to do is call the local police department in the area and have them pick the person up and take them to the emergency room where they can get help.

Getting on a message board and trying to find a poster that lives close by is insane. You just don't have time for that. The next time it happens, and it probably will unless the person seeks help, could be the last.

Crap, I should have read the rest of the posts first. I saw that you were in need and would have done something sooner if I was here earlier. :(

Anyway, how is the weather where you are at? It is pretty nice here, only in the mid 80s although it is pretty humid. Did I tell you that walking out of the metro I have seen more cockroaches than I have ever seen in my entire life. I suppose they live in the grates or something. They are really gross and get pretty big. I only see them at night though, so I guess I will just have to close my eyes when walking around then.

I would like to hear the rest of the story if you would email me. I think I have an idea.

Something like that happened to me once. My best friend who lives in Buffalo told me she was going to kill herself and no matter what I said to her she was still going to go through with it. So when she signed off I got a friend who lived in New York to call 911 and gave her her address. The police got there just in time too. I'm glad everything worked out for you Purple Bear. Make sure your friend goes gets some help. She'll be better off for it. And she will thank you one day too.

One time I was on a BBS & a girl was talking about her friend in the room who had took a bottle of pills & we told her what to do.

Probably too late now, but for future reference:
Call the police in your friends area, they will gladly go by and check up on him or her.
Maybe this would not have helped your situation (since I do not know what it was and it is not my business to know anyway) but just do not forget about the boys in blue. If you do not know the number of the cops in the other city and you cannot get it through information in time, just call 911 and they will get ahold of the police over there for you.

Never think that maybe a situation is not serious enough yet for the cops and do not worry about sending them over there for what turns out to be nothing. YOU NEVER KNOW. We get calls here all the time from family members up North wanting us to check on their elderly relatives. For no particular reason at all- they just want them to be checked up on. We do it.
