I can't recall if I've ever participated in any of the regular pittings of Wally-World, but I certainly nodded my head in agreement while I read them. Therefore, I think it's only fair that I single them out for praise when they do something right:
Wal-Mart expands family definition (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6879829/)
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is expanding the definition of "immediate family" in its employee-ethics policy to account for laws in states that recognize domestic partnerships and civil unions.
Now, this isn't huge. It only affects states with gay marriage or domestic partnership laws, and it's not even clear that same-sex partners will even get any benefits, but there it is. They admit that gay people exist and are legally family in same places. It's something, damn it, and that's more than I ever expected to see from Wal-Mart. We can count the minutes until the outrage fom the usual corners begins.
