Idle Thoughts

My girlfriend, for some reason. Maybe just because this is one of the few refuges I have from here. Heh. Much like, say, a diary or journal.

My mother. I sincerely believe she'd go out of her way to not have me post here if she knew I was having fun.

Oh, only everyone I know.
Pretty much same here. It's not that I've really posted anything catastrophic or anything like that, but I'd just rather not have any audience that I wasn't writing for read what I write. Does that make sense?

Luckily most of the people I know couldn't stay interested for more than 2 or 3 sentences (hey, if you guys ever read this: just kidding!)

My friends -- no prob, I've sent most of them a link or three. My family -- ditto. My coworkers, OTOH -- I like keeping my personal life and my work life pretty much completely separate, and this is definitely part of my personal life. (She says, typing away in her cubicle... ;) )

My mother, I don't think she'd understand the boards, and she'd probably make some comment about paedophiles and the like.

My boss... because I post from work most of the time.

I know a few people, both family and friends, that consider anyone and anything that ever appeared anywhere on the internet to be associated with rapists and murderers. No way I could convince them that hey, there are actually non-violent people to be found here...but there are no worries about them reading anything on any of the 23 message boards I post on, because they don't have computers.

They won't have computers, because those rapists and murderers could track down where they live as soon as they plug the evil machine into the socket. :wally

Let's see, the FBI, NSA, CIA, KGB Oh, trust me, they are still around. . ., Mossad, the RCMPs, Danish PET, South African NOCIC, MI-5, Scotland Yard, and Interpol, just to name a few. . .

Why? No reason. No reason at all . . . ::whisling, rolling his eyes, kicking a pebble::

My parents. Especially my mother. I have a hard time being open with them, and it would feel way to weird to know they were reading my posts here, no matter what those posts were about.

Short term, my immediate family & aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. I've kind of been waiting to mention something personal about myself to them. Wouldn't want them to find out via the internet.

But other than that, hell no. My first rule of posting on here is that I never say anything I wouldn't be willing to tell anyone I know, in person. Of course, for some of the Pit stuff I've written, I'd have to work myself up into a proper lather first. I don't make a habit of just walking up to strangers in real life and telling them to fuck themselves as often as I do around here.

My boss. Those darn time-stamps would be....embarrassing. :D

Meh, I don't much care. I'm pretty honest and frank, so anything I mention here I'd probably say to anyone IRL.

Although Sniffs_Markers would probably be mad that I refer to her new girlfriend as Chlamydia.

My mother, of course.

But my coworkers, too. They tend to be...well, the word is prudes, which is remarkable, since they're world-wise enough not to be. But mention sex and they all freak.

One of them thinks a picture of a naked man is disgusting. Not just silly, or even amusing, but actually disgusting. She's married. I wonder what she thinks of her husband. I just don't get it - there's plenty to admire on a naked man, even if they are silly.

Most of my family.

I make reference to porn, which, although I'm sure my parents know I look at (well, I know they know, since Mom found one of the magazines I swiped from Dad at one point) I like to pretend otherwise, and, of course, the rest of my family is there, too.

I reference the fact that I'm not...exactly straight. I'm not out to my family, and I'd rather do that some way other than randomly reading an MB post...

Pretty much everyone. I don't mention this board to anyone in real life. I do know three people IRL on these boards. They were all former coworkers that saw me spend time on it at work and got hooked themselves. I read their posts and they read mine I'm sure but I don't even acknowledge the fact that I know them on the boards and rarely mention it IRL.

Is there a way to find out if family members post here?
I'll have to think of a signal or something.

I suspect Abbie Carmichael could be my mom.

One of my friends with whom I live lurks here and I know she reads my posts. In fact, she correctly guessed which Doper I was by writing style and certain details. I wouldn't want my parents to read some things I've posted here, but other than that, I'm an open page.

Anyone I know in real life. My rule is to be open, honest, and frank on the SDMB. Hiding behind a username, I can be who I really am without worrying about putting up masks.

My first thought was Dubya because I still think he is Satan. But on second thought, I wish he would read these boards, assuming he reads. He might learn something.

But on a personal level...although I don't ever suggest to any friends or family that they check this place out, I guess it wouldn't bother me a whole lot...then again there was that post I made about oddest sexual encounters...hmmm.

Changed my mind. Count me as one of those who thinks maybe it is a good idea NOT to buy subscriptions to the SDMB for family and friends Christmas gifts next year.

No, not really. Some things would be mildly embarassing but overall, I've not said anything on the board that I've not said off it.

Just me dear ol' mum, not that I've ever posted anything too illicit or anything. But my participation in some of the TMI threads would definitely make her uncomfortable, although I'm sorta curious which would be worse for her.....the fact that I'm giving blowjobs or the fact that I'm talking about them publicly.

I've even linked her to various threads before, wouldn't be hard at all for her to find and read my posts, but she's just not that curious I guess.

Just my mother.

Everybody else, all good. I'm shy, but I'm not hiding anything.

What is it about our mothers? I call my mother, write to her often, tell her all kinds of stuff, and yet I'd hate to find out she read anything I wrote here. Kind of odd how she's the only lady in the world I care about winning and maintaining the respect of. Maybe not so odd.

Mothers. What a mindf*#$!

Count me in as another for mother.

Another vote for "everyone I know." Nobody IRL knows what my username is here, and I've never mentioned the place, except as a message board where I've read this interesting/funny/strange thing. I trust you guys, because I don't know any of you.
