Dex asked for a couple days for things to cool down and get sorted out. They've had that, so if the admins want more time, then they should have to say that they need it.

Am I rampantly speculating? No. I'm just reminding them that we do want to keep updated, as the thought of absolutely nothing happening on the issue this week is pretty ridiculous, and he said they'd keep us informed when they can.

Well asking people not to talk about "it" (whatever the heck "it" is) is basically a provocation for people to talk about it. I reckon there's going to be a hell of a lot of threads closed, moved or bowdlerized.

While events happened last Friday, READER management and legal advisors and so forth were not available until Monday. I asked for quiet and a few days, I think I asked that Monday afternoon and Tuesday.

I will say again: The Straight Dope Message Boards are NOT the READER's highest priority. Not second priority, not third. Somewhere around 42nd, I'd guess. READER honchos are not going to waste their time on something that doesn't generate money for them. Every time some thing from the Boards comes to their attention, it is viewed as a major nuisance. If you want fast action, the fast action would probably be that these boards are shut down forever. That would be the READER's way of taking fast action. Is that what you want? Or would you prefer a calm and reasoned approach?

So, it's been four days. Keep your goddamn shirt on.
