View Full Version : Embarrasing attractions you have to movie characters.

You know, the kind of attraction you dare not tell your family or friends about, or else they'll think you're deranged. I'm not talking about human characters, either, so as an example, here's mine:

Seen the Hellboy movie? You know Abe Sapien? The fish guy? Yeah. I've got the hots for him. I have uncontrollable, perverted fantasies daily about him. I can't help it. It's horrible. Let's not even go into how many photos I have on my computer and the collectible figurines I have. Oh, dear Og, help me. It's so messed up, but it feels so gooood!

Who's your shameful movie character desire?

Well, the character was in both the television series and the movies, so I guess he counts. Worf, the Klingon. Tall, dark, deep voice, forceful personality, I wouldn't mind having my neck ache afterwards!

Hellboy.

I have a small poster of him and the BPRD keychain, but whenever I try asking stores about Hellboy action figures, they always give me odd looks. It's not exactly that shameful, because if my friends find out I can always point out that a certain percentage of them have the hots for the Phantom of the Opera.

I have a crush on Abe Sapien as well. It's the way he moves and his voice, although I can't seem to find any posters of him for reasonable prices.

I'm not sure if Nightcrawler is odd enough for this thread.

Try explosiontoys.com. I got my 12" Abe figure from them. They had a lot of stuff. The 12" Hellboy looks awesome, and I seem to remember it only being around $40 US. That's what I paid for my Abe, too.

I'm sure the Dark Horse official site will have some toys, as well. Forget the local comic joint - I never had any luck finding anything at those kinds of places.

I think Nightcrawler would count. ;)

I totally agree. But I don't feel guilty about loving Aragorn. This thread asked for "embarrassing attractions," and I'm not a bit embarrassed to admit being attracted to a brave, intelligent, magnanimous guy. How about Susan Sarandon in The Hunger, the scene where she has just consumed her boyfriend and is stumbling down the halls, covered in his blood. Sure, it was meant to be erotic as hell, but it's a far cry from what is considered sexy today.

If anyone knows where I could get a poster of that shot, I'd love to know.

BTW, I just asked the wife; she came up with Michael Rooker starring in Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer. Will that work, or should I ask her to think of a fish? ;)

Just anime characters - Yurika Misumaru & Lynn Minmei

Oy...if you're attracted to MOVIE Minmei, you SHOULD be embarrassed. I can see liking the TV version, even if she's a bit of a brat, but the movie version was even worse.

Mostly because Hikaru and Misa handled the love triangle (which wasn't, really) so much better in the movie than in the TV series. I'm not sure if that just makes Minmei's brattiness worse in comparison, or if it's objectively worse because there's no longer any positive feedback from Hikaru (or alcoholic assholishness from Kaifun, for that matter) to justify it...

Now, if you mean the TV version, and are just expanding the OP (which I plan to below), while I disagree (I prefer Misa, personally, with Shammy a close second), you can disregard my post...at least she's just a brat (and I have my share of brats I like...), not a raging psychotic bitch trying to cling onto something that wasn't actually there in the first place.

Anyway...to be On Topic...

Expanding scope of the OP to TV series...

A number of animated characters... But that's not embarrassing in and of itself... It's the frequency that I get the hots for UNDERAGED animated characters...

Just to name a couple:

Like Raven and Terra (Teen Titans TV series)...Uhm...and Beast Boy, too...
And Shammy's clearly not underaged, being in the military, but she does have the youngish look and attitude. (And she's a brat, too... >_>)

Ehm...and expanding again to video games...

Rikku, from Final Fantasy X and X-2 is probably my favourite video game girl of all time. Yes, even in X, when she's 15...
And Ellis from Battle Arena Toshinden...

*shifty*

Hush, you....

Do You Remember Love?. (Retelling of the TV series.) I haven't managed to find a copy of Flashback 2012 (the sequel), yet.

DYRL is a darned good movie, but seriously incompatible with the TV series, no matter what anybody says. The existance of the Meltrandi being the biggest example that's not a massive spoiler for both versions.

Yeah, Aragorn (son of Arathorn) is a one- (Elven) woman man.

Strider probably smells like mud, tobacco (well, some kind of super-duper Elven clove tobacco, so maybe that's not so bad), horses, and sweat.

It is no secret: anyone who's more than mildly acquainted with me knows I have a hobbit fetish.

It surprised and amused when I first felt this odd attraction coming on back when FOTR first came out. I mean: here's this movie with a manly-stubbled action hero and a pristinely beautiful blonde elf, and I take no interest in them, but go nuts over the tiny guys with pointy ears and furry toes. It felt kind of weird at the time, but that was 3 years ago, and I've gotten over it since (the feeling weird part, not the fetish part; I'm still having fun with that).

The odd thing is I don't have much interest in the hobbit actors when they aren't being hobbity. But I had the same kind of non-interest in the actors who played Gkar on Babylon 5, D'Argo on Farscape, and the occasional Cardassian--whom I also found attractive--once they weren't covered in latex gunk either.

I refer to Kiva of the Megas:XLR cartoon. She has an athletic build, an exotic mixture of features (red hair, Asian eyes, yellow-olive skin) and her personality doesn't turn me off. I can't name a thing wrong with her. But she does nothing for me. Zero.

I can get into the whole Luke Skywalker thing, but the totally hot Jedi Master is Qui-Gon Jinn.

In the elf category, Legolas is just too bland. Give me that smart-ass hottie Haldir anytime!

He's dead? Bummer :( What happened to him?

Accident on the set of a movie, IIRC.

*checks*

I was close...

Kevin died in Beijing, China after suffering a severe head injury in a fall. He had just finished work on Warriors of Virtue: The Return to Tao (2002) at Beijing Film Studio.

(From his IMDB entry (http://imdb.com/name/nm0808963/bio).)

Expanding this a bit further into comic books that haven't been filmed...you most recent mention of Abe reminded me...

No, I'm not saying Strider is, like, nasty dirty. He basically lives outdoors, so smelling like mud and horses is to be expected. But he was raised by elves and is the son of a king (am I getting this right?), so I expect he would be as personally clean as would be reasonably possible. Having dirt under his fingernails is no big deal.

*trying to imagine Prince William backpacking throughout Europe for 30 years in near-anonymity*

Aragorn is not the son of a king. He is a direct-line male decendant of the kings of Arnor and Arthedain, at least one of whom (Arvedui Last King of Arthedain) married into the royal family of Gondor. I could go into more detail, but I will spare you.

If it makes you feel any better, I have a lingering Goonies-era crush on Sean Astin that made me a pervy hobbit fancier, too. I feel your pain.

Fortunately, I have a number of understanding and supportive friends (some of them PHFs themselves), who haved helped me through this difficult time, and indulge my fetish by providing me with as many hobbits as a grown woman could wish for. A quick inventory reveals that I have at least 25 hobbits around my home and office, from tiny plastic ones to the life-size cardboard cutout; with a couple of exceptions, all of them are gifts.

Sam will kill you if you try anything.

Since Sam invariably gets Frodo in the stories I write about them, I don't think he has anything to complain about. :)

Carol (Marcia Wallace), The Bob Newhart Show's tall skinny funny redhead secretary. An all-consuming jones for one rerun-filled summer when I was about 15. Thank Og that faded; I saw her a few years back on some infomercial and she looked like a very large and heavy gay man. (NTTAWWT!)

Sally (Rose Marie) on the Dick Van Dyke Show. Yeah, Laura was incredibly hot and sweet and all...but can you imagine the unanswered sexual longings Sally had built up? She could probably have sucked the face right off a man's skull.

I had the serious hot bananas for Barry Miller as Ralph Garcey in Fame. Actually, I have the serious hot bananas for Barry Miller, full-stop.

Vincent from Beauty and the Beast, the TV show with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton. Oh, my teenaged-girl fantasies about him running through the subways to my rescue...top that, you pervy hobbit fanciers!

I put my vote in for Jughead and Mr. Spock, too. I'm a sucker for a sidekick.

Is it wrong for a 38 yo woman to be attracted to Harry Potter? Cause, like, my, um friend thinks he's an extremely hot young man.

(Miss Mapp, is it possible you haven't seen The Very Secret Diaries (http://www.ealasaid.com/misc/vsd/) yet? They are absolutely hysterical.)

I'm so very glad she didn't say "Since Sam invariably gets Frodo iin the end n the stories..."

Yes those Secret Diaries are hilarious, tho I am definitely not a slash fan.
(
As I mentioned earlier my embarassing attraction is to movie Frodo. I forgot to mention that I embarass my teenage daughter by pointing out all the cute guys/men in any movie we go to see - Freaky Friday, Cellular - they had cute young men. She barely put up with my Capt. Jack Sparrow fixation.)

Yes, I've seen them. I did refer to pervy hobbit fanciers (PHFs) in my previous message, you may note.

I'd forgotten about B&B's Vincent. I too had a sort-of crush on him, long, long ago.

You just know that sex with him would involve food in some way.
