View Full Version : Bah. I Feel.. Uninteresting.

I think I actually bore people. That's kinda sad.
Especially considering the wackiness locked up in my skull.
I just come off as.. bland.

Externalize your wackiness. Wear a clown suit three days a week. Shave the left side of your head. Wear entirely too much perfume.
Whatever people think of you then, it definitely won't be "bland".

FWIW, CG, I've enjoyed our exchanges in certain geeky threads over in Cafe Society. :D

See, online, I'm less uninteresting. I'm an uninhibited wacky ball o' fun. But thanks for the compliment, nonetheless.

What you have to do is carry around your laptop, and type out your brilliant wacky retorts. Then show people the screen.
"Look, I'm a wacky ball o' fun on here! LOOK!" *
* Do not taunt wacky ball o' fun. Wacky ball o' fun is not to be used by infants, nursing mothers, or penguins. Do not look directly at wacky ball o' fun or permanent baldness may result.

I also have to point out that I find Gamera very interesting...I'd like to meet him in real life.
...
Note there was nothing dirty about that statement at all. So please, keep your heads out of the gutter.

You might also try to be a little more spontaneous. I used to be thought of as kind of dull because I didn't have an impulsive bone in my body. I wouldn't want to do something without planning ahead of time, so I was really predictable about a lot of things.
I kind of loosened up and became a bit more dynamic and spontaneous, and it has made me a little bit more interesting to other people. Learning an instrument helps as well, if it is possible (people are floored at how great I am at the piano, even though I don't think I'm that hot :p )

Yeah, that's a good portion of the problem..

But I already play the saxomophone.

Just a moment ago, I was posting on a thread about penguins. Why did I write that, I thought as I hit the Post button. Nobody else has any reason to care about, much less find amusement in, your little anecdote. Then I remembered that this board is, after all, all about Sharing Mundane and Pointless Stuff, and I felt better. Then I cast about for another thread where I could write this post, and this seemed like a good place for it. Personally, I have yet to run into a boring person on the SDMB.

huh! At least you are interesting on the SDMB. I'm bland on all levels of Reality.
Bah! Now I'm bored, irritable and boring.
What we need is beer and strippers. Those two things solve all problems. Always. Even world hunger.

Its true Candid. Now I'm new here, but even I can see that your witty remarks can bring a smile to anyone's face....and make some girls giddy with joy even. Why, if I were a girl...

Having lurked through many of CandidGamera's witty and sly replies, I too don't find him at all boring (myself OTOH, quite the contrary) but taht probably doesn't help much since he seems to be finding himself boring. Are you sure others do? Or are you projecting your own feelings onto others?

I don't think this is projection; I have a fantastic capacity to entertain myself. Back in the high school days of yore, a friend's girlfriend intimated that I might be a little boring, to which I replied "I'm *never* boring" quite readily - from my perspective. Of course, she then laughed pretty loudly, so her mileage may vary.
I will say this : I'm a great fan of consistency and well-defined parameters, and dogmatic methods. I ask a lot of questions of people to "figure them out" - personally, I like being asked questions, but I just don't see other people reacting to it as I would.

Gamera, Kythereia, you two seem to be eminently suited for each other. Those were really awful puns.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't like Gamera a lot, and Kyth, too. I'd probably be glad to be in a room alone with either of them! ;) I just don't want the wrong impression bandied about.

Do you want to have a giant nuclear turtle, dressed in the worlds biggest trenchcoat and slouch hat, accidentally crushing all the buildings? Do you actually want him to fight Godzilla in your main shopping district? Because, if he comes to visit you, that is what will happen. He is called CandidGamera for a reason, you know! Just look at this (http://www.shrineofgamera.com/) picture of him, fergodzsake!
P.S. But really, how about you post a picture of yourself on the gallery (http://teemingmillions.com/gallery/albums.php), Gamera?

Maybe the 'fun-intellectual' girls will find you more interesting. You know the kind that can carry a conversation on any topic seriously, but are just as liable to break up (laugh, that is) at some of the most moan-worthy puns. Don't know many of those, but can't say I have ever gone looking.
I myself prefer someone more to my intelligence level, which lies somewhere between flounder and cod.

I have the exact same feeling CandidGamera . Online, people love me. I'm great at conversation, interesting, witty, use relative catchphrases and quotes, and good at utilizing the unlimited amount of conversation pieces available at my fingertips. People enjoy my company, and I enjoy theirs. Offline, I have a hard time finding interesting things to say, keeping up with other's wit, and can't seem to get a word in without interupting others. Socializing offline is like sinking in quick sand. I think about what to say for song long that the next thing I know I'm making receding into my own head and making up metaphors for sucking at socializing like the one above. Those few seconds you use to think before writing a response in an aim conversation go a looong way...perhaps I've become too accustomed to them.

Well then, just do what I do. Use the same password you sign onto the SDMB with. Alternately, you could simply email a pic to OpalCat (mailto:webmaster@teemingmillions.com) , (Hi Opal!) and ask her to put it up for you. You claim you feel uninteresting, but obviously, I would like to no what you look like, should I bump into you on the street someday, so you can't be that boring (Also proven by your past threads). ::Teasing voice:: You're not shy, are you?::Teasing voice::
