My wife was flipping through the Restoration Hardware catalog this AM and saw pati furniture made with "nyatoh". Turns out it's a hardwood from Indonesia, being used by manufacturers to replace the now morally reprehensible teak.
But some apparently think it's just as bad. To wit:

Crate & Barrel today became fhe firest company to announce that they will end the sales of furniture made from nyatoh, a wood logged from the rainforests of Indonesia.
Umm, but some places say that Nyatoh is plantation-grown. Which, frankly, I really can't find any fault with. Sustainable logging is a good, good thing, IMO.
So which is it? Plantation all? Plantation none? Plantation some, and you need to make sure it's certified?
