I know we're gonna have some visitors over here pretty soon,
So stand up and make yourselves known, so we can plan a welcoming comittee and some, ahem, *cheese and wine*.
I'll be away on the 12th and thirteenth, but Fri the 11th of August seems like a good time, but I'll go with anything.

I enjoy a jacuzzi as much as anybody ;)
My cousin is working in Dublin this summer, and my brother and I are coming to visit him. We will be getting there on Monday morning, August 7. We don't have a lot planned yet, and I'm basically letting my cousin handle the planning because he is already there.
Friday the 11th would probably be fine. We are hoping to travel around a bit and see the sights, but since we are departing from Dublin on Sunday morning, the 13th, we will probably be in town on Friday night. Thanks for taking charge of this gathering!

D Marie, could you send me a mail when it gets closer to the time and we'll get something organised.
Ruadh dosent get much chance to check the boards lately (Her Internet connection aint the best) so I'll send her a mail to see if she can make it.

Will do. As I say I am not sure yet of our plans, so once I've talked to my cousin I'll have a better idea if Friday the 11th will work.
Looking forward to seeing you all!

A brief hijack while I jump ahead to October here. John, my travel plans are set. Let me know when you want the info and I'll email it to you.
Now back to your regularly scheduled thread.

Have fun folks! I'm back on the boring side of the Atlantic, but I shall certainly be thinking of you (might even make the supreme sacrifice and raise a Murphy's to you at the appropriate time).

As it is, I will probably be in Dublin for the Dublin Dope Murphys (:D) Party during the weekend of October 13. Moosie will be there as well then. Was that your date too, Trion?
Any chance of me shamelesly inviting myself over to crash at someones place? Or: are hotels expensive in Dublin :D
Trion

Coldfire -
Moosie and I will be here durring the same week, but I'm flying out on the 13th. I'm there from the 8th to the 13th. I understand this may be terrible timing for everyone else and you guys may just have to have the Dopefest on the weekend without me :(
But maybe you can show up a day early and we could do this on the 12th??
Coldfire
07-25-2000, 10:12 AM
I could try, right? OK, I'll try to arrive the 12th!

Yojimbo has plenty of room. And he loves having parties.
as for the date, I'm planning to get the 11th, the 12th and the 13th off, just in case!

I'm supposed to be there the weekend of the 13th, too. I'll see if I can fly out a few days early, but it's doubtful. Are you going to be anywhere else in Europe, Trion? I'd really like to meet you.
Coldfire, I've got a list of el cheapo hotels and hostels in Ireland. The hostels seem to run from 8 - 20 pounds, the hotels 30 -50. I haven't made reservations yet, perhaps one of the Dublin Dopers could suggest a convenient area of town? We want to stay in a bed and breakfast, if ya'll know of any good ones.
And does anybody else like Kilkenney(sp?)? Mmmmm...

Kilkenny is owned by Guinness, IIRC. And are those GBP's or Punts, Tater? Just post the Euro equivalent. It's not like the Limeys need to know :D
Larrigan: I would crash at Yojimbo's but I'll probably puke over his carpet ;)

Are punts Irish pounds? If so, that's them. And I am not doing your math for you, Mr. Works in a Bank!
Could anyone tell me how difficult it is to get from Shannon to Dublin on a train or bus? I can get a super cheap flight to Shannon on Ryanair, but if it costs a lot or takes a long time to travel to Dublin it's probably not worth it.

Coldfire and John - This sounds great. Now I'm psyched. :)
tater - Someone wants to meet me?? I'm blushing. Mrs. Trion and I will be in London before heading over to Dublin. Our schedule is as follows:
London from Oct. 1st to the 8th. Then we head over to dublin on the 8th and leave on the 13th. We do have something of a schedule while we are in London, what with this being around our anniversary and all. But that's still in the planning stage.

I'll manage, Tater ;)
John: as much as I would love to fly Air Cunnilingus, they don;t seem t have prices online. Also, the Dutch module doesn't seem to do mutch. Bastards! Luckily, I speak some English. I'll try and see what KLM have to offer (I have the frequent flyer card, you see).

Coldfire, check out ebookers.com, I used the Deutsch version, but I'm pretty sure they have a Dutch version, too. Right now the lowest price I'm looking at is around DM 400 round trip from Frankfurt. That is unless I can go Ryanair. They have a website, too, but I'm not sure if they fly out of Amsterdam or not. They had flights as low as 80DM (one way) to Shannon.
Damn, now I want to fly KLM, too. They have the best sandwiches of any major carrier.
Trion, you're not coming to visit us here on the Continent at all? :( I'll see if I can't come a day or two earlier, maybe Hubby can get a few extra days off of work to watch the kid.
Coldfire
07-25-2000, 10:50 AM
Ebookers.nl is still in progress... and Ryanair doesn't do Amsterdam.
You like the KLM sandwiches? Depends on the time of day, though. FWIW, Lufthansa food is pretty good too.

a monthly return ticket from Shannon to Dublin will cost 18.75 euros. It will take about 3-4 hours by coach to Dublin, but they go everyday.

Sorry tater. We'd love to tour Europe sometime, but as we only have 2 weeks off and a limited budget we had to make some decisions.
Maybe someone should point MoosieGirl toward this thread. I haven't seen her around lately.

I'm gonna start a new thread to plan for the October meeting a little closer to the time. That will be fun.

Mi casa , su casa Coldfire . No spare bed however. Couch or Thai rollout bed. You can puke all you want, I know a good cleaner ;)
You don't smoke do you ? :D
Really looking forward to seeing all of you. :D
Hey Fretful glad to see you made it back in one piece. Fill us in on your trip sometime . I'm sure you've got some stories.
Fretful Porpentine
07-25-2000, 09:15 PM
Oh, I've got stories all right -- almost three single-spaced pages of travelogue so far, and that's only the first week. I'd love to post it here someday, but it will take some serious editing.
But for now, I'll say that I survived Ireland (despite getting lost on the sea cliffs at Howth, and having some very weird roommates in several of the hostels), made it through a week in France even though I'm the world's worst French speaker, traveled all the way across northern Spain and halfway back by bus, and returned to the UK in time to spend another week with friends there before flying home. Heck of a long strange trip, and worth every penny I spent (which was far too much).
Sorry for the hijack, back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Yojimbo, you seriously rock. I will consider your invitation (and please, if it's too much trouble, just say so. I could afford a hotel, but this just seems more fun).
This sounds supercool, Teeming Millions! Well, Teeming Decades or whateveryoucallit :D
