I just wanted to chum the waters for any passing conspiracy theorists in the area:
From this CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/07/21/patriot.act/index.html) article
House Approves renewal of Patriot Act:
Passage came with the specter of terrorism fresh in lawmakers' minds after another round of bombing incidents in London earlier in the day.
Now from an article (http://www.cnn.com/2005/POLITICS/07/12/patriot.act.ap/index.html) a week before the London bombings:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- They agree the Patriot Act should not be allowed to expire, but the House and Senate judiciary committee chairmen disagree on whether to extend all the law's expiring provisions permanently.
So it seems we had some people in government, and private sector, decrying the Patriot Act and not wanting to renew some of its more intrusvie powers. Then we have a London bombing, by London Nationals no less, and look...most of the Patriot Act provisions are now permenant, and others are extended years!!
Conspiracy? hmmmmm :)
