I caught this in the theater last weekend before Dark Water - anyone else seen it? It has Jodie Foster in it - and man - she hasn't done a film in a while and she's so picky - this has gotta be good. It definitely looked pretty solid - anyone agree?

Near the end of the trailer they give away one of the big twists, something I imagine you're not supposed to know for a good part of the film. (Although not the actual ending, I don't think.) So dumb.

I wonder if Red Eye (another thriller on a plane, with the oh-so-lovely Rachel McAdams as the female passenger in crisis) will steal some of Flightplan's thunder, since it's being released a month ahead of the Foster film.

If you think Flight Plan looks interesting, watch Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes. Flight Plan is obviously a remake of that idea. (I've never seen the remake with Elliot Gould and Cybill Shepherd)

I was pretty damn disappopinted by Contact, so I guess I'm not as enthused.

I wasn't impressed with this trailer as much - but I doubt that they will actually be very similar films. Seems like the plane scene is one aspect of Red Eye but now the central focus, whereas with Flightplan it seems like it all centers around what happens on that plane.

I'll probably go see it, but just because I'm hoping that FINALLY Sean Bean will be in an American movie where he doesn't play the bad guy! (Although there is a good chance he will be the bad guy, because it looks like there has to be one, and who better than the captain of the plane?)

I'm not sure - one thing I personally liked is the trailer didn't give too much away....like I can't really decide what kind of character Bean will end up being, or Saarsgard for that matter. I know SmackFu thinks there was a big spoiler in it but I disagree- I bet we're just supposed to think that and be misled so we're surprised during the actual film.

bump...
Didn't want to start a new thread about this ...but has anyone read the EW Fall Movie preview? Decent review for Flightplan - I can't wait.
Sean Bean is having a big year with this and the Island. Good for him I say.

Red Eye's running at 88% at Rotten Tomatoes, including The Village Voice.
Definitely can't wait.

Is it really?
They look like pretty different concepts for me - I might see both but definitely Flightplan. There is something about the male lead in Red Eye that I can't seriously, I don't konw what it is, and I feel like the trailer gave a bit too much away. Flightplan though - anything could happen - I'm not making any solid predictions on plot cuz I think they left it up in the air nicely.
