The Constant Gardener - anyone seen or read it?

The Constant Gardener is based on John Le Carré's novel of the same name. The movie stars Ralph Fiennes and Rachel Weisz and is being released 8/26 but I saw it in an advance screening last night. I haven't read the book yet but will be borrowing it this weekend.

Anyone else seen it and care to comment?

Holy hell, this is one of the most depressing movies ever. Do not go when you're in a sad mood.

I'm surprised they're making it into a film. I read the book. I thought it was stock LeCarré - nothing transcendent.

Now that I think about it, pretty much every one of his books since 1990 (with the exception of Tailor of Panama) has been pretty damn depressing. Night Manager, Our Game, Single & Single...hell, don't even *think* about reading Absolute Friends if you thought Constant Gardener was depressing.
