If you do check out this website
Its pretty damn cool, I wasted a couple hours here yesterday. I was amazed at how pathetic some of my choices were, damn those 80's.
08-04-2000, 10:40 AM
...actually lots of times..
08-04-2000, 10:43 AM
I think it just keeps asking you questions until it guesses correctly. But still...coolness.
08-04-2000, 10:45 AM
For me it guessed
Jeanie for I Dream Of Jeanie
Jack McFarland from Will and Grace
And Drew from Drew Carey Show.
I think that's pretty impressive.
I tried one and it lost. Tim from Home Improvement. gonna go give it a second chance though. ;)
It just guessed Roseanne and Doogie Howser for me. Pretty cool site. I'll have to think of something harder so I can stump this thing!

We used to have something like this when we were little - my dad had written a program in basic that did it. Ours was for animals, though.
SwimmingRiddles - it keeps asking questions until
a) it's narrowed it down to one character it knows.
b) your answers have eliminated all of the characters it knows.
And every time you stump it, it "learns" your character, and adds your question to it's list.
08-04-2000, 10:57 AM
I tried to think of obscure characters, and Erin from Titus tripped it up.
But it's dead on with the dictators. It got Chairman Mao in like 7 questions.
08-04-2000, 11:10 AM
I just beat it.
I was Dr. Robert McDonald from MY LIVING DOLL, and it had no idea that I lived with Julie Newmar playing a girl robot back in 1964.
08-04-2000, 11:16 AM
I just stumped it on Woody from Cheers.
08-04-2000, 11:16 AM
It couldn't handle me as Uncle Joe from PETTICOAT JUNCTION, either.
08-04-2000, 11:19 AM
It guessed me. I was Norm from Cheers.
Once it asked me if my best friend was a mailman, I knew it got me.
Now I must go play again!
I stumped it with Angela from "Who's the Boss". It thought I was describing Chrissy from "Three's Company".
08-04-2000, 11:34 AM
It just got Topanga from Boy Meets World, but I stumped it with Ray Campbell from Sister,Sister.
08-04-2000, 11:35 AM
I beat it with Holly Marshall from 'Land Of The Lost'.
She was the babe when I was just a tot.
08-04-2000, 11:41 AM
I beat it with Ensign Chekov, but it figured out Willis Drummond, of whatchewtalkinboutwillis fame.
08-04-2000, 11:45 AM
It couldn't figure out Dr. Johnny Fever from WKRP either.
I don't want to piss on anybody's parade, but I am now officially sick of this site.
But, don't take my word for it.
BTW, you really want to screw it up? Get it stumped anyway you can, and when it asks you to add a question, make sure that it's so vague it could be anything. ("Do you breathe? Do you have ears?") Do this about a hundred times and it'll never get anything right, it'll be a shot in the dark.
08-04-2000, 11:50 AM
I beat it two out of three tries.
It guessed I was Jack from Will & Grace
It didn't guess that I was Doctor Who
It didn't get that I was Edina from Ab Fab
so a hint for anyone who wants to beat it: try British tv characters.
08-04-2000, 11:58 AM
It guessed Floyd Lawson from the Andy Griffith show..damn them!
08-04-2000, 12:55 PM
Has everyone been answering the last question and typing in who you were so it gets better? I stumped it with Willis, and added it, I wonder if thast what got it for Rysdad.
BTW, has anyone got the Dudley from Diff'rent Strokes question yet? I was rolling. I don't want to ruin it for anyone.
08-04-2000, 12:59 PM
I missed Link from the Mod Squad.
08-04-2000, 01:10 PM
For those of you who stumped it, who were you and who did it guess? I was Bernard Wooley from Yes, Minister and it thought I was Groundskeeper Willie from The Simpsons.
And some of you should be ashamed of yourselves for using characters from shows that were not sit-coms.
And an ovation for the first person who can stump it with an obscure dictator.
08-04-2000, 01:22 PM
One ovation here, Robot. And it wasn't even obscure. I was Caesar Augustus, and it guessed Tiberius Caesar. Close, but no toga.
08-04-2000, 01:28 PM
Hooray and congratulations.
08-04-2000, 02:01 PM
It did not know Mr. Bean, Gunther from Friends, or Paul Buchman from Mad About You.
Stupid, stupid machine.
I stumped the dictator part with Daniel Ortega; it guessed I was Manuel Noregia (sp?) instead. When it asked me for a question though that would seperate the two, I couldn't think of anything interesting, so settled for the rather lame "Are you from Nicaragua?" I went back through a second time answering the same way, and sure enough it eventually asked me if I was from Nicaragua, to which I answered yes, and it guessed I was Ortega.
08-04-2000, 02:51 PM
It guessed me. I was Daisy Duke.
Wow, I remember this site. I used to visit it a couple years ago. It used to say that you could diversify with any political figure or TV character.
I stumped it with Kenny (aka "Bud") from The Cosby Show.
08-04-2000, 11:24 PM
It figured me out when I was "Skippy" from Family Ties.
However, it didn't guess correctly when I was the girl from My Two Dads. That was probably due to my not remembering that much about the character.
Trying to remember what shows we used to watch in the 80s...
(Excellent time-killer, BTW)
08-04-2000, 11:50 PM
Just tried Marcos, the ex-dictator from the Phillipines. I won.
08-05-2000, 12:22 AM
It guessed Alf, Mimi Bobek, Margaret Thatcher, & Ronald Reagan.
I beat it with Punky Brewster!!!
08-05-2000, 12:40 AM
That was odd. It guessed Topanga from Boy meets World, and Grace from the nanny, and Ross from friends. But it couldn't guess Elaine from Seinfeld. It thought I was Kimmy Gibler from Full House. WTF??
08-05-2000, 12:53 AM
*whispers* I don't understand how this game works...
*blushes and scampers off*
08-05-2000, 01:19 AM
wow. the first time i went through, i thought this was a preliminary survey. i soon caught on to the fact that the game had been in full blast for a while, but kept playing. I am now an answer in there.
anyway, it guessed wesley from mr. belvedere and boner from growing pains. i still can't believe they got away with that...
I was kermit the frog, it thought i was Mary's boss (I can't remember his name now) from the mary tyler moore show.
08-05-2000, 02:53 PM
I stumped it with Pol Pot. I was proud of myself.
Strangely enough, it's not up on its Night Court (Billie Young (thought I was [horrified whisper]Ally McBeal[/horrified whisper]) and Buddy Ryan) and Head of the Class (Eric and Janice) characters. And Winchester from MASH wasn't there either.
Speaker for the Dead
08-05-2000, 05:57 PM
I stumped it with Attila the Hun. He thought I was Genghis Kahn.
08-05-2000, 06:12 PM
It got me. I was Joseph Stalin, then Kramer from Seinfeld, then Niles Crane from Frasier. I'll keep trying though.
08-05-2000, 06:23 PM
I shall rest easy tonight. I stumped it. I was Darryl, (one of Larry's brothers) from Newhart. It had Larry, but not his brothers. Although it does now.
Ah ha ha!
*singing* I beat the computer, I beat the computer!
08-05-2000, 07:20 PM
Wanna kill some time?
Dude, what do you think I come to the SDMB for??
08-05-2000, 07:26 PM
wow. the first time i went through, i thought this was a preliminary survey. i soon caught on to the fact that the game had been in full blast for a while, but kept playing. I am now an answer in there.LOL JB! I thought the same thing. Then it asked me if I ever killed seven people. I started thinking "How did they know about that?" Then I realized it was not a personal questionaire. I realized the game actually started and I went back and started over. I picked Kelly Bundy, That red head chick from Unahappily Ever After and 7 of 9 . Seeing a trend? It was right on all of them.
