Im sure you've all seen this thing. It uses a bunch of made up terms for technology and is priced rather high. The thing is...I really want an air cleaner and this one must have something to it. They sell plenty of them and new ones keep coming out. So whats the dope on these? Do they work and are they worth the price? Anyone have any experience with one of these?
Thanks

Consumer Reports looked at these a few months back.If I remember correctly, they did work ok at removing particulate matter from the air. The problem is that they generate a lot of ozone, and having an ozone generator in an enclosed space is not exactly healthy.

Im sorry guys :smack: ...I found that the search feature actually helped me this time. In the past it hasnt so Id forgotten about it. The only reason I decided to look this time was because another forum Im a member of tears people up if you ask a question thats already been asked. Thanks for being patient or bring it on if you have to!

Consumer Reports reviewed air cleaners this month, and the Ionic Breeze was again at the bottom of the list (or close enough not to matter). Almost completely ineffective and an ozone emitter too. Definitely Not Recommended.
From Consumer Reports:
Sharper Image began offering its Professional Series air cleaners with the new OzoneGuard catalyst in July 2005 as Consumer Reports' October report on air cleaners went to press. Our air-cleaning tests show that the Ionic Breeze with OzoneGuard does a poor job of removing smoke, dust, and pollen particles from the air when new and after 500 hours of continuous use. We consider any air cleaner with a clean air delivery rate (CADR) of under 100 to be ineffective; CADR values for the Ionic Breeze were consistently in the 20s for dust and smoke and in the 30s for pollen. Indeed, our highest-rated air cleaner removed particles from the air roughly 20 times faster than the Ionic Breeze Professional.
At the top of the list, the recommendations were:
Friedrich C-90A C-90B for $500
Kenmore (Sears) 83202 83200, Whirlpool AP51030R for $350
Whirlpool AP45030R for $250
