I'm using IE in a window that is not occupying the full screen; I've noticed that after posting, the thread is loaded so that the left hand side of the page is not visible without scrolling across to it... Or I think that's what I've noticed... this is a test post to see if I can make it happen.

True to form; it didn't happen, but I'm sure I didn't just imagine it before - has anyone else noticed this?

Is this (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=336443) the issue you were having?

I do believe it is; not only that, but I know that I was exploring that little dropdown box only the other day, on my machine at home (which would explain why I can't duplicate the effect here)

Resurrecting this thread because a) I didn't get the chance to implement the advice straight away and the problem is still happening and b)the dropdown is gone - I'm concerned that my (incorrect) skin preference might be stored in my profile(i.e. server side) and that I now have no way to change it back. I have cleared cookies, and it's still doing what I described above.

Mangetout,
I checked your server side profile and you are set to use the forum default style. I removed one of the styles a little over a week ago because it was never meant to be there in the first place. That is why the styles option box is now gone because there is only one style now.
I explicitly set your style to the only remaining style, saved your profile, and then set your profile back to the forum default style. If anything was saved on the server that should have overwritten it.
One thing that occurs to me without knowing exactly what the problem you've described might be is that the Google ads are implemented as a 728x90 pixel leaderboard meaning if your browser is not a minimum of 728 pixels wide this change is going to introduce the need to scroll.

Thanks Jerry
I'll see if it still happens tonight - it only seems to happen on one machine at home, but that might be because my browsing/window sizing habits are different elsewhere, or that there's some difference in the display setup (although I think not on that one).
