Help me pick my new username!

i have been informed that my original username 'madarchod' was too offensive for the SDMB and that they have henceforth changed it to Mdr until i find a more suitable name. I find this weird since it literally means 'motherfucker' in Hindi, and i have seen all sorts of profanity on this board and yet this is an issue. W/ that said, help me pick my new name. I reserve the right to trump you all but i'm looking for creativity.

carry on While we allow profanity/obscenity in posts, we don't allow it in usernames. Keep that in mind while contemplating your new name. Also keep in mind that not all mods/posters speak ONLY English...we have quite a few people who speak more than one language.

But getting back to the topic at hand, it sort of matters whether you meant to be offensive or not....don't you think? I mean, if you MEANT to be offensive, we should be trying to find alternative offensive but acceptable names for you. If you DIDN'T mean to be offensive, we should be trying to find alternative non-offensive names that express your personality. I'm not so sure I am up to the challenge, but surely some of the inventive minds here will come up with something.

this is getting very interesting...on one hand i've seem to hit paydirt w/ this whole 'sex w/ mom' thing. Some other names make reference to that but are too smart for me. I have another guy who has bruised knees, screwed up keyboard and lost Coke from this....very interesting.

I find that the tolerance allowed to a smartass is directly proportionate to the quality of the overall contribution. If you're going to blatantly funk with the spirit of the profanity rule I would imagine the content of your posts should be superior if you intend to play with us for very long. This is a very large community, geographically speaking, and "Motherfucker" is going to be an offensive word/phrase/concept to some of our native tongues. As in any situation, you'll need to offset that by making it worth putting up with.

And then there's the "don't be a jerk" rule. Is there, perhaps, another, less offensive way, to buck the system?

You probably don't want a 3-letter name. The SDMB search feature will not search for words of less than four characters, and sooner or later you'll want to do a vanity search.

I'm guessing that you are young. We certainly welcome and enjoy younger Dopers here. But you will almost certainly get repeatedly clobbered for thinking that attempting to shock with obscenity makes you "a rebel against the system". What you will be judged by will be the content of your posts. If you've got a problem with The Man, and you are able to present and discuss your viewpoint intelligently, you'll be respected. If all you can do is throw out a bunch of words intended to shock, then you're just another attention whore and probably won't last long here.

Why not pick a user name that says something about who you really are, rather than one intended to make other people have a certain reaction?
Anyway, we're pretty hard to shock here.

it's just more for fun, bcuz i have very random and stupid thoughts flying around in my head and this is as good a place as any to vent and screw around. I'm not trying to be a rebel nor am I trying to make a point, just trying to goof off harmlessly. When the mood so strikes me to interject in a serious conversation w/ some serious thoughts, i can do that as well as anyone, but w/ work and life being so serious all the time, this is a fun way to not be me I guess.
