I don't know how well this will go, but here goes.
Can you list
1) Party affiliation (Republican, Democrat, Other)
2) Height
3) Weight
4) Gender
I'm trying to see if there is any correlation between party affiliation and body size.
If you'd rather not reveal your weight, just skip that.

Somehow I'm guessing that the results will not correlate.

Not to mention that the sample here at the SDMB may not be representative of the US as a whole. But, it's the best we can do within the framework of a message board.

You don't need a poll for this! Just look around.
Demmie females are all short, fat, welfare queens.
Demmie males are all short, fat, Joe Sixpacks.
Pubbie females are tanned and slim, from playin' tennis and boinkin' the tennis pro at the country club.
Pubbie males are tanned and slim, from playing golf at the country club and boinkin' high class callgirls at the gentelman's club.
It's all so simple if you just pause to think about it...

From what I've seen, we're definitely the most attractive party (leadership excluded). Now, there's a hypothesis that demands further investigation.

OK, if my calculations are correct, here are the results so far:
Mean height and weight:
D 1.84m 90.00Kg
R 1.88m 106.06Kg
G 1.79m 71.21Kg
O 1.75m 71.86Kg
Median height and weight:
D 1.83m 79.55Kg
R 1.93m 102.27Kg
G 1.78m 68.18Kg
O 1.77m 76.13Kg
D=Dem, R=Rep, G=Green, O=Other
Classifying some people was difficult (due to fuzzy party affiliations), so you might come up with slightly different numbers. And hopefully I didn't mess up the calculations.
In any case, it seems that Republicans are taller and heavier than the rest.
Before I started this survey, I hypothesized that Republicans would be "bigger" people (height and weight), so it's interesting that from this small sample we see that this holds.
I'm curious to see if it holds with a larger sample size, so I'm hoping we get more responses. If you want to add the stats of people you know (who are not even Dopers) please do so.

How are you dealing with gender and mean/median gender size differences? Is that part of your hypothesis?

Here are the results up to post #48:
* Men and Women (44 total)
Mean height and weight:
D 1.75m 76.85Kg
R 1.78m 85.38Kg
O 1.76m 78.21Kg
Median height and weight:
D 1.73m 63.64Kg
R 1.75m 90.91Kg
O 1.78m 70.45Kg
* Men (26 total)
Mean height and weight:
D 1.86m 93.41Kg
R 1.84m 105.00Kg
O 1.79m 89.59Kg
Median height and weight:
D 1.83m 85.91Kg
R 1.78m 102.27Kg
O 1.80m 84.09Kg
* Women (18 total)
Mean height and weight:
D 1.63m 57.92Kg
R 1.69m 57.91Kg
O 1.71m 57.35Kg
Median height and weight:
D 1.63m 60.91Kg
R 1.70m 59.09Kg
O 1.71m 52.73Kg
Number of people per party affiliation
D 15
R 12
O 17
It seems that the differences between the party affiliations have become smaller than in my previous post.
Height-wise, it seems that they are all neck and neck.
One small exception is that democratic women appear to be somewhat shorter than the rest (1.63m vs around 1.7m for the rest), but this most likely is a statistical artifact and coud go away after more samples.
Weight-wise, there seems to be a difference between Republicans and the rest, especially among men. 105 Kilos versus about 91 Kilos for the other men (231 pounds vs 200 pounds)
