Renowned columnist Art Buchwald has refused dialysis, and it's only a matter of time, maybe a short time, before he dies. For a man awaiting The Reaper, he's in unusually fine fettle.

He was interviewed at his hospice the other day on the Diane Rehm Show on NPR. I think it's archived, so you can hear it if you'd like to. He said he tried dialysis, and found it very unpleasant. At the hospice, he is kept comfortable, all his friends come to see him, and the food is wonderful. He has even arranged delivery from McDonald's. He was mostly lucid, but sometimes lost his train of thought.
