FORT LUPTON, Colo. -- The mother of a U.S. Marine was grieving for her dead son when she found that his savings account had been claimed by the director of the funeral home.

It was money that he had no right to and despite a court ruling, the funeral director refused to pay. What's even more puzzling is that he's not just any debtor, he's the mayor of the small town and a member of a City Council that has financial responsibility for the city's budget.

I can't speak for what askeptic is up to, but I can say that I agree with his sentiment. It appears to me, and has for some time, that Bosda has essentially appointed himself the SD Newscaster, trolling the internet for outrageous (humorous, horrific, whatever) stories that he can post just to.. I don't know. Just to post? Just to keep us in the know? The OPs tend to be the same thing, over and over- link, snippet, maybe a line or two commentary, but nothing really insightful, and rarely something that would directly impact him, that would be comething I could understand him getting emotional enough over to take the time to post about. Then he leaves it up to others to provide the commentary. I have this weird sense that he posts, then sits back to watch everyone make his thread for him, nodding sagely and thinking "I made that happen. All those people are communicating about an issue because of me." Like an MC or something. It doesn't take any thought or planning or real effort at all, and I personally find it a bit insulting.. like each one of Bosda's posts has an undercurrent of "Dance, monkey!" to it.

It's a shame he didn't include his sig in the OP, because I have a few things to say about that as well.

When did the bank transfer the contents of the savings account to the funeral home? What does the bank say about why they did that? Was the court order issued with a requirement that the mayor personally recompense the Marine's mother, or did the court order name the funeral home? When was the court order issued? Is there any reason that contempt of court proceedings have not been brought against the mayor? Has the Colorado Attorney General been petitioned in this matter?

But askeptic's list of links above is perfect - look at the driver's ed pitting the dumbfuck posted - he threw his usual shitfit over possibly the most minor injustice that has ever occurred in history, and yeah, it was fucking annoying. He posts them constantly. They're always stupid. Mostly they don't even have any commentary. He just combs over the crime reports until he can find something to be outraged about. Well, isn't that the point? It's just barely possible that if someone has annoying posting habits and someone calls them on it, maybe they'll get a clue that they are not universally well-regarded on the boards. Maybe they'll even cut back on the behavior. While if one says nothing (the famous "if you don't like it, don't read it" approach), the annoyance lingers. One thinks, "That seems like an interesting topic" and clicks, and, as the page renders, sees Bosda as the author, and thinks, "Crap, fooled again."

I don't think anybody is suggesting that nothing be said. There are just more appropriate ways to call a person out. Threadshitting, as Kimstu put it, is nothing more than a hijack. Anybody actually interested in this thread topic winds up being unable to stoke up a discussion because it all becomes about the posters instead of the topic. Kaylasdad99 had an interesting point completely overwhelmed by the bickering, I'm sure other people who may have contributed to a discussion didn't bother.

A better way, the standard way, to call out a poster is to open up a Pit thread. Put his name in the title, make a case for his bad posting habits, and see where it goes. Who knows, maybe there are a dozen long time posters with Bosda on their mental ignore list, who won't bother opening up one of his threads, and won't contribute at all to this.

To sum up, if you want to Pit somebody, just fucking Pit them already.

Revtim, I guess you failed to notice, this is the pit. People want to post shit, we can tell them how we feel about it. I was not really rude, just sort of tossed off a comment. Bosda is the one coming back like a flaming asshole. I am constantly astounded by people who are astounded by people expressing thier opinions, in the pit of all places. Imagine, a person posting a critical comment about something posted in the pit. Are you sure you were astounded, cause if you were, thats just...astounding.

In considerably tinier lettering, yes. However, it's not yet completely second-nature with me to check the thread's originator to make sure they're not a total wanker. And there's always the tiny oft-dashed hope that one of these days Bosda (or posters of his ilk) will actually furnish an OP worth reading.

Further, if you go to the index page, you only see the name of the most recent poster.

If he is really disobeying a court order to return the money, then the ante is upped a bit, but it's up to the survivors to pursue this through the court system. People don't get put in jail just becasue they do somehting unfair. It's called "due process," and he's entitled to it, even if he IS an asshole.
