A picture of yourself in 10 years

If, by some 'supernatural' means, someone said they can show you a picture of yourself in exactly 10 years would you look at it?

Keep in mind you could be looking at yourself in a coffin...

Hmm...I resemble my father greatly, but he is bald and 6 feet tall. I also look like one of my cousins from that side of the family, but she is almost morbidly obese, so that's a non-starter,too.

The premise of this thread reminds me greatly of the Navajo peyote ritual as described to me by my then-roommate, a member of the tribe, in Arizona. They smoke some weed (to keep down the nausea that peyote tends to cause), then they smoke some peyote, then they eat some peyote, and then there's rhythmic drumming and such, and when the trip sets in, each person (except the shaman, I guess) sees a vivid picture of how they're going to die if they continue on whatever path they're on, good or bad. It is revealed to them during the trip (by the drugs, I would presume, although the shaman might just tell them--I didn't think to ask) that if they actively make changes in their lives they'd die in a less unpleasant way later than predicted, but if they tell anyone exactly what they saw (how they would die) they would die in more gruesome fashion and sooner.

I'd do it, if only out of curiosity. I wouldn't be particularly worried either way - que sera sera and all that.

I wouldn't want to do it. As I see it, there are two situations:

1. This is how I will end up, no matter what I do. I don't want to lock my future like that. That would make my life boring and ultimately hopeless.

2. This is how I will end up, given my probable decisions. The thing is, I can easily see it becoming a self-fulfilling prophesy, as my likely decisions are altered by the fact that I saw the picture and (over)compensated. That's almost as bad as situation #1.

So, nope. I'll stay in the dark, thanks :).
