Brand new house. Wonderful. Great. Lots of cash paid for it. Lived in 1 month. Leak. Ceiling cracking. Drywall buckling. Water stains. So far, weak customer service. Slow timetable. Must breathe. About to explode. Ready to rip someone apart. No complete sentences. I fear for the next person who has to deal with me about this.
Anger soon to be spewing. Mullinator soon to not be so lovable and huggable.

Call me a bastard, Mully. I don't mind.
I worked in construction for a time, and almost ALL new houses had at least 1 roof leak, and 1 basement leak. Go check your basement.

I am so sorry. May the Good Drywall Fairy watch over you. If it would help we could go out in the backyard and indian leg wrestle? ;)

Mully, I know exactly how you feel. We didn't have our house even a year and the bathtub overflow was screwed up causing a leak into my kitchen.
One day last winter I couldn't get the back door open... and when I finally did I couldn't get it closed! The apparent cause is the frost heaved the back of my house .... where we had just put on a deck that summmer, and it moved the door jam. This same frost heave also caused a major crack in the wall of the basement. Fucking frost.
In my yard I have some kind of cinch bug that is eating my lawn, leaving brown spots all over the place, but don't worry.... nothing a bunch of chemicals can't fix.
I could go on and on and on.... but you get the idea
Fucking house, it really makes renting look good!!

Oh boy, I really didn't need to hear this. I close on my new house on Sept. 26, and I've already had one major catastrophe (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=36312).
Sorry 'bout your troubles, Mully. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
