Edible panties?

I've heard these mentioned in a couple of sitcoms. My curiosity is killing me to ask: 'what are they made of? and 'are they meant to be worn?'

Wearing them under clothing for more than, say, 10 minutes, will insure that you will have fruit-flavored pubic hair for about a month. They are meant to be worn alone and for a brief period of time.
