My mega tank: I built the tank as an addition to the home and then joined it by putting doors through the basement and upstairs through the bedroom. You can see the excavator removing the soil on the first week of construction. You can see the doors cut through my walls in the 3rd picture.

He might not get his water from a utility, plenty of people have their own wells or springs on their property.

Better idea: 50,000 gallons of water + 5,000 pirhanas + 1 live cow every other day = fun! Hell, you could probably recoup your investment in the tank within a few years just by selling tickets to watch the feedings.

If I were his neighbor I would spray water around his aquarium every morning and evening. Then he would spend the rest of his life trying to find the (nonexistant) leak.

I had seen this a while back, nd hadn't been able to find it again.
Will look over the site again, but if memory serves, I believe the owner is in a wheelchair - for some reason I suspect he might have gotten a litigation settlement/award. And I believe he said elsewhere that he gets a lot of help from friends and lives very simply in a rather inexpensive area.
He is (I believe) also quite into raising birds.

It says on that site that he saved money for about 9 years so it sounds like it's all money he earned.

Yeah, I know, but A.) That's a lot of juice to pump that water in and out (though not necessarily out). B.) That's a helluva good well/spring if it can provide that much water on a weekly basis (as well as household water needs) and not dry up. C.) He's gotta be dumping some kinds of chemicals in the water to keep the fish from getting sick. They can't be cheap. D,) What's he do with the water he pumps out? I can't imagine that he just pours it down the drain (and what a drain it must be to handle that amount of water), it'd overload his leachbed, septic tank pretty quickly, and wash out his yard, I'd think. Or does he carbonate it and sell it as Perrier? ;)
