I've got a ton of old photos that I'd like to have digitized (for convenience, security, etc.). I found a couple of companies that provide the service:

Does anyone have any experience with these companies, or another one? Any other advice?

I have no experience with this companies, but depending on how many you're talking, it may be cheaper to just get a scanner and do it yourself. Unless you're just after the convenience aspect of it.

Here's (http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1456058&Sku=C125-9996) a pretty good quality scanner for only $90, and it's capable of scanning images with a lot higher DPI than those companies offer.

Just something to consider.

Thanks. I've actually got a decent scanner, and have scanned a lot of photos. (Actually, you don't need more than 600 dpi, or even less, or you end up with way too big a picture.) The issue is that I have hundreds of photos, and scanning photos (especially with a slowish home scanner) takes a lot of time. So, yeah, I'm after the convenience.
