My new laptop is coming tomorrow. Merry Christmas to me! :D :D I am now looking for a new briefcase. Basic requirements:

1. It needs to hold a 17" or so wide laptop, giving it moderately good protection.
2. It also needs to have room for my 'black book' which is 14 " X 11.5" X 2.5 ".
3. It should have a bit of room left over for a file or two.
4. It should have room for sundry items (pens, calculator, etc)
5. It should be of decent quality.
6. $200 or less.

I'm a bit partial to leather, but open to other materials. I want it to have a shoulder strap to carry it with, but if it has wheels on the bottom in addition to the shoulder strap, I wouldn't rule it out. I don't want a 'backpack' style.

How about it? Any Dopers that have found The Briefcase?

Thanks.

I haven't found the bag yet (I'm making do with the one my IT guy gave me for free even tho' it's ugly as sin) but check out ebags (http://www.ebags.com/?sourceid=DECSMXT1&ovchn=INK&ovcpn=SiteMatch&ovcrn=SMX&ovtac=PI). They have a great selection and they feature reviews from buyers. I've almost figured out which bag I want to try...

I use a Porta Brace DC-3V (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&Q=&is=REG&O=productlist&sku=389197).

Here is the one I use. Targus Notebook Case (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16834995402)

It fits a 17'' into the bottom section well but if you have a charger or mouse with it you'll have to stack it on top. It has a good depth to it though so with mine I'm able to get the laptop, charger, mouse, and all my files in there and still have room for other things (cards, pens, more folders). It has a shoulder strap and if you need even more room has a section that can expand for added depth.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I found the one I want. It's a Mcklein - Chicago model:

Anyone have experience with this brand or type of case?
