View Full Version : bought a hearse: what do I call it?

Sigene

I just bought a 1966 Cadillac Hearse/Ambulance and would like to affectionately refer to it as ????something???

The only thing I can come up with is "the Dead Sled" but that has been used before and I'd like some further options.

Any ideas?

Are you kidding? There really is only one choice: ECTO 1.

Of course, it would've been a lot more fitting if that was a '59.

Pssh.

ECTO 1 was an ambulance.

How about Gravedigger?

Pssh.

ECTO 1 was an ambulance.
It was both (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecto-1), actually.
The Ectomobile is a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor limo-style combination (hearse/ambulance/station wagon) endloader used in the 1984 film Ghostbusters and other Ghostbusters fiction.
But I stand corrected: Ectomobile. ECTO 1 was its license plate.

My dad used to refer to both ambulances and hearses as "meatwagons." I always thought that was funny, in kind of a gross way.

Corny, but since it will be the thing transporting you, The Meat Wagon. You sir, have fine taste.

Of this list my favorite so far is Cadaverlac.

I have a personal affinity to Abra Cadaver, but only because of something hilarious my daughter said years ago...but it doesn't quite roll of the tongue so well.

William and Patty are good too; except for the baggage it carries with hearse collectors...They get pretty prickly about anything that refers to their cars as "Hearsts."

I'm still up for more suggestions. Keep em coming!

Neil. As in Neil Young, who, apparently, drives one (it being the best thing he's found to haul music gear).

Okay...I had no idea they had a collectors group for hearse enthusiasts. Ain't that somethin'?

I came in here (stupidly) hoping to be the first to suggest Ecto 1. Only missed it by 4.5 hours.

A buddy of mine had a van he called the Stabbin Cabin. Different meaning of Stabbin - but it might work?

You need to paint it something other than standard hearse Black.

Then it would be

Those two for the same reason. You remember when Dan Rather got the shit kicked out of him by that guy who kept saying, "Kenneth, what is the frequency?" Well, frequency is measured in Hertz! (Of course, Rather was measuring it that night in "hurts." ;))
