View Full Version : Sharing my Mii!

I know there was a thread around here where people were sharing Wii address info so their Miis could mingle, but I can't search on "wii" or "mii", and nothing else I can think of brings it up.
I'm desperate to get a Mii parade going. Can anyone hook me up?
I tried to start a thread (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=397898) like this but no one responded.
My Wii number is 1128025828527928 in case you want to mingle.

My Wii Number is:

Oh, and I added you Amp if that's cool.

Sure, go ahead and add me. I tried registering your Wii but the system kept telling me the number you provided is incorrect. Can you recheck your Wii number?
And anyone else reading this thread who happens to have a Wii come on and join on in.

I'll grab and post my code when I get home tonight. I think having a few Doper Mii's in my parade would be a great addition to our existing group including Michael Jackson, Jesus, and Brian Peppers.

OK, I've got both Red Barchetta and malkavia registered. Do we need to send an intial e-mail or something to get our Miis mingling?

My Wii code is 3960 3720 7666 2465 -- can't wait to see some Miis in my Mii Plaza...
So far my total for the Mii Parade is up to seven. My newest additions are someone's Grandad and two little tykes by the name of Nicky and Edith (I'm assuming they're siblings).
Athena

Edith is my dog's Mii. Yeah, my dog needs a Mii. Dunno who Nikki is, not mine.
Anyone else think the Mii Plaza song is some sort of drug? Soothing, yet upbeat. Strangely addictive. A little bit into the second bottle of champagne on New Year's Eve Mr. Athena and I were imitating the Miis, just wandering around to that oh-so-funky Mii soundtrack...

So is it simply enough for someone to add your Wii's code? Or do you have to add them to your address book as well before the Miis start mingling?

Yeah, I know, but I just think a notification feature would be welcome. As it is now, if I add a bunch of folks to my address book and they don't know about it, it's useless. An option to display a message like "So-and-so has registered you on their Wii; would you like to add them to your address book?" would be convenient.
OK, just checked and found a few more additions. I got a Robert and Miyamoto in my plaza. I also got a few more in my parade. To whom does Sarah belong to? She's hot. Is she available?

Does everyone automatically get a new Mii in the plaza when someone is added, or does it still wait for you to have to mail it to folks in your address book?
It looks like it is automatic. I have had a few of you guys actually send me a Mii or two. Those end up in my plaza along with the Miis I created. I believe as long as you have your Mii's set to mingle they will show up in the Wii's of evryone you have registered in your address book that has registered you in their's.

IIRC, if you have "Travel" turned on with your Mii Parade, and some of your Miis are set to "Mingle", then they will randomly wander to other folks' Wiis without any action on your part. You can also directly send Miis (regardless of settings) to folks in your Address Book if you desire.
BTW, "Robert" and "Miyamoto" are probably mine, and someone's "H. Hughes" wandered by my Wii the other day. Haven't seen "Sarah" yet.

Quick question: if mingling happens, you might experience me (Dinaroozie) as well as my bizarro world equivalent (Lefty Din) wandering onto your console. Does anyone else have a Mii they use exclusively for playing with their non-preferred hand? Playing both people in doubles is great fun, and actually less confusing than you'd expect.

Ok, I've got Edith and Nicky (who are they?) running around.
I'm currently living for WarioWare; it's one of my absolute favorite franchises out there, and the Wii version looks to be even better than the DS version (which was the best thus far).
I don't really know anything about Mario Galaxy (is it a platformer?), but "Wii Play," which comes with a second remote, looks really fun.

Rayman Raving Rabbids is considered to be the better of the "cute mini game" games, and in fact one of the best Wii games available. I'd take that over Monkey Ball.

Yeah, online should rock - so long as they implement well...the DS's wifi leaves a lot to be desired.
Dinaroozie
01-07-2007, 02:02 AM
It does, this is true. I'm a little worried as to how a game like Smash Brothers could work with even a little bit of lag. I suspect serious competition will take place on the same console, and online play will mostly just be for a laugh (that is, don't play it if you're the sort to be frustrated when you lose because of lag).
I hope some of the really good slower games end up online, because that's where the greatest potential is in my mind. I still mourn the fact that Advance Wars came to the DS just before online play did.

Thanks for the advice on the games. Stonebow is going to try to take a look at them at the game store before we buy. Our littlest is getting a huge kick out of this system. He's already made pro status on bowling, and can routinely kick our butts at that game. He likes the tennis, too, although his little Mii looks like Yoda during a light saber battle, what with the way it jumps and flips around.

Call me silly, but I'm kinda looking forward to Korophina and Mercury Meltdown as upcoming Wii titles. The idea of tilting the remote to control the ball/droplet is rather intriguing.
Never played any of the Smash Bros. or 3-D Metroid titles myself, but I'm seriously looking at getting those on the Wii as well. I'd also commit a lewd act or two if Midway were to put their San Francisco Rush arcade racers on the Wii, complete with motion-sensing steering (why, yes, I'm a big Excite Truck fan, why do you ask? ;)).
And I'm completely torn on Wario Ware, myself -- a lot of people praise it, but I've never played any of the games, and am not sure how it will hold up as a single-player game. I might get it just because I think my family would go for its screwball Eastern lewd humor, though...

Haven't played it myself, but I hear the single-player monkeyball game is very hard, and a lot of the mini-games have borked controls. I can't recommend it for a youngster, myself.

Is it possible that two people need to be online at the same time to get their names ungreyed? Because my 'connect 24' is going through my little DS dongle, and for that to work I have to have my computer on and my firewall off. So connect 24 is more like connect 1.5 (or perhaps 'connect strictly under my supervision'), and when you add to that the fact that I'm probably on the other side of the world to you folks, communications might be limited. I think I have two ungreyed names total at the moment. And two Miis - jake and a legoman, from memory.

That's bizarre. My Mii Parade has 2 people - Nicky and a woman ( I can't recall her name off the top of my head). That's all. I figured out that my router was acting up, and once that was fixed a few more people ungrayed, but still no more Miis in the parade. Something's definitely hinky.

As to your question, the WiiConnect24 system doesn't really have a way to actively synch up with the network. I've noticed that if I'm playing around with the system and a friend sends me a message, I won't get it until I turn off the system for a few minutes. It's obviously designed for an always-on type connection, so I'm not sure how to make it work otherwise. You may just want to turn off the console and turn on the connection for 30 minutes and see what happens.

I'm loving these Wiis- you guys are so creative. Besides what I presume are family members of the Dopers, I have Michael Jackson, Jesus, and Mario. As someone who watches more children's television than someone his age should, I was especially amused today to see "Mr. Krupp" and "Mom," the latter of whom bears more than a passing resemblance to Kim Rhodes. (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0722476/) Someone out there (or their child) must like kids' TV.
I was thinking that "Mom" was totally hot. That explains it!

I've seen at least two Marios already, and am unsure about the number of Michael Jacksons (do you mean "Jacko"?). I've also had Lego Man wandering past my Mii Parade.

Dunno who Kim Rhodes is, but "Mr. Krupp" is most likely from my son, the big Captain Underpants fan. We've also got "George B." and "Harold H." on mingle, ready to leap into action with a tra-la-la. :)
(Hmmm, maybe it's time to do a Super Diaper Baby Mii...)

Jacko is one of ours, assuming that the same name hasn't been used by others. Which it probably has. So never mind. ;)
I'm hoping someone gets my Jesus Mii, because there's bad punning involved.

I didn't realize how fun making Miis was! "Ryan" is me, but I just invented a whole new motley crew of Miis (not, however, Mötley Crüe Miis). I accidentially made a baby Hitler which makes me laugh (he's about the same size as the Peanuts characters I later did)- the little disco pose he gave jumping into the Mii world made me laugh out loud.

The Iron Man Mii and probably one of the Mario Miis is ours. Our sons are comic book and Nintendo fans.
We have about 13 Miis in our parade, now, but no really strange ones.

I've got most everyone added but I'm still shy a few so if I'm grayed out on anyone, it'll be a few days.
jay-c, I have Infinity-guy and am thoroughly creeped out by him. I think I'll send D-Fetus your way to return the favor.
You're a female? Really? Eh, what's in a name?
Yeah, Infinity-guy is still bugging me out. He's kinda funny in baseball though, because his antennae disappear for some reason. I'll have to look for D-Fetus in the parade tonight. It's getting hard to find individual people, I'm up to 33. That'll teach me to whinge about an empty parade, eh?
And yes, I'm female (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m22/jennimonkey/say_cheese.jpg).

I now have an Abe Lincoln and a Weird Al.
If Abe looks angy (Think Ultimate SHowdown Lincoln), then he's ours! though there's another one floating around too.
Weird Al is ours as well.
Keep an eye out for Chuck Norris and Ike Turner as well. :-)
Can you tell that FaerieBeth, the kids and I enjoy mii-making?

The other Abe Lincoln is mine. I'm also responsible for Li'l Adolf (as mentioned before), Charlie Brown, Lucy, Homer, and Bart. (Li'l Adolf is actually a fluke- he was supposed to be Homer at first, but made me laugh so much while experimenting he stayed.)

I made a Charlie Brown also - called 'GoodGrief'. Most of the rest of mine are just my real-life friends.

Weird Al is ours as well.
If Al has rounded glasses and a gaping mouth, he might be ours. What can I say, I prefer pre-LASIK Al. ;)
Can you tell that FaerieBeth, the kids and I enjoy mii-making?
I had to tell my son to stick with making Miis of people he knows, lest our Mii Plaza get filled up with random incarnations of "Bob" and "Steve"...
Got about thirty-something Miis in my Parade, too!

Going to add you today. And You can tell when you're confirmed when the name in your address book turns solid black. That's when Miis might start to wander in.
