He could be talking about The A-League (http://www.a-league.com/).
However, since he is from Australia, I doubt it. Likely, he is talking about The Hyundai A-League (http://www.a-league.com.au/), Australia's professional soccer league.

It's the remnant of the old American Soccer League, which has actually been around longer than our current "first division" league, MLS.
I spent a couple years being a stadium announcer for a team that was in the A-League. Fun times. :)

Can anyone in Melbourne help? Dude, are you kidding? There are a gazillion places where you could see this on a giant screen. Go to any sports bar. Arcadia in South Yarra (corner Punt and Toorak Rds) would be one place. They have a freakin' enormous screen and would have it on. Pretty much any pub with Fox signs outside will do ya.
