Who is xena and why do I care what she would do?

AFAIK, Xena was originally a minor charactor created for Hercules, the Legendary Journies. Some TV execs liked her cleavage...err, I mean acting ability, so they gave her her own show.
BTW, I don't watch either show anymore. Not even Lucy Lawless could make me put up with those ridiculous fight scenes.
