What's in your brown bag today?

I roasted up a turkey breast on the weekend and have been carving off slices for sandwiches all week. I have a turkey and Miracle Whip on white bread sandwich for today.

I'm getting sick of turkey.

Roast beef on whole wheat with horseradish sauce and a side of potato salad. Yep, I went to the grocery store last night!

I had a meat pie, which is minced meat encased in sweet bread dough.

My colleague brought it from the canteen.

And last night's American style tuna salad, donated by boss.

Now I'm hungry again, dammit!

Damn you, Twickster! Now I want egg salad!

Smoked ham on a buttered kaiser. With really good ham, slathering anything more on it just ruins it.

I'm making chicken soup for the Princess, who stayed home with a throat infection. I am planning to have a bowl of soup and a sandwich made with some of the chicken from the soup. If I had gone to work today I'd probably have eaten a salad of some kind. OK, who am I kidding - more likely I'd have gone to the Italian/sandwich place near my work.

Cream of wild rice soup with whole wheat bread and a wild rice-mandrain orange-sesame seed salad with sesame vinagrette dressing.

Still eating leftover pizza from the kidlet's party on Saturday. For variation, I decided to reheat it and dip it in ranch dressing. I'm pretty sick of cold pizza.

I had Oscar Meyer Bologna on Multigrain bread. With Pringles. It was just wrong.

I packed lunch last night - cottage cheese and cherry gelatin and an apple. But I'm home with The Sick, so I made me some sketties and medicinal brownies. I should have just eaten the lunch I packed, but I wanted warm comfort food. And if I survive the night, tomorrow's lunch is already packed.

I know! It's one of those new Lean Cuisines! ;)

Today, I have Marie Callender's fettucine alfredo with broccoli and chicken. Tomorrow, I think I'll have Stouffer's Swedish meatballs. I just got sick of spending ~$8 for lunch each day. Now I just buy a week's worth of whatever looks good and is on sale and bring one every day. Yummy hot lunch for a couple bucks.

Tell me more about these "medicinal brownies". I'm intrigued.

I ususally have time to run home for lunch and let out Clifford, the Cary Grant of Dogs, but today I'm eating a Bowlappetit at my desk - the garlic pasta one. I find these taste better than the frozen stuff. Also had an apple and a doughnut for dessert. I'm sure I'll be hungry again in a couple of hours.

A slice of ham with a slice of swiss cheese between two half pieces of whole wheat with a dab of lite mayo (but I'm going to add some Cayenne pepper that I keep in my desk). Its packed with my protein drink (which I forgot to drink today; its been busy) and 2 'Sticksters' pepperjack cheese snacks for later this afternoon. (somebody loves me!)

Nothing funny about the brownies - they're just medicinal so that they have no calories or cholesterol or anything. 'Cause once you call them medicine, they're healthy. It's true! :D

Actually, they're not really all that good - it's the recipe off the cocoa can. I need to make a note that they're just not that impressive. But I'm a good little patient, so I'll take my medicine...

For me lunch will be a ham/pepperoni/cheese sandwich. Of course, for me, lunch happens around five o' the clock PM.

Mmmmm. I'm going to let you in on my secret egg salad ingredient, which just makes it the tops.

Celery seed.

Did you know that celery is a biennial, and that you have to let it have its second season to get the seed?

I wish we were sitting next to each other in elementary school so I could trade with you.

Reheated stir-fry from last night. It's yummy - carrots, celery, onion, mushroom, and lots of broccoli (I was craving broccoli, how odd) in a teriyaki-type sauce, on brown rice.

And chocolate chip cookies.

I did not, but after I posted I decided to look up celery on wikipedia, and read just that. It's pretty fascinating.

I just think they're cool because, more than any other seed/plant combo I can think of, the seeds are exactly what I'd imagine you'd get if you concentrated celery flavor and put it in a little seed.

I make minute rice with onion soup instead of water. Today I threw in some chopped green pepper and sausage. Hearty and filling

Dole "Spring Mix" greens, topped with sliced steak and avocado, and a made-up dressing of salsa mixed with some yogurt to make it creamy.

It would have been better if I'd warmed up the dressing, I think.

I have a tuna noodle gratin frozen entree and a yogurt. But another department here ordered out to a deli for muffalettas, so now I'm craving one of those.

I have no idea. Whatever the cafeteria is serving in the faculty room, I guess. If it's too gross, I can always have one of the MREs I keep in the filing cabinet.

Does my lunch really sound that good? It just means I knew we'd be shorthanded at work today and I was off work yesterday, so I made something yesterday to bring to work. And someone sent me some wild rice.

I didn't mention the sesame cheesecake I also made. If I bring that into the office, it gets stolen. I'll eat some tonight.

Roast beef and avocado "salad" with some gouda cheese. Topped with olive oil.

Not really what I would normally choose to eat but it is what my Overlord at eDiets said I should have.

Brown bag my ass - we lunched at Al-Amir for my birthday. We shared the sampler platter, which is hummus and baba ganoush and those things I can't remember the name of that start with a k and have pine nuts and meat in them and also those grape leaf things that I don't like but he does, and we had a large Damascus bread, and also a small labneh and some falafel.

Why, yes, somebody did have to roll me in the door at work, why do you ask?

Skulls? Come on, man, I gotta have some meat. In fairness, though I did pillage everything I ate today. And tomorrow is hunting-with-naught-but-my-hands-and-wits day.

I had an absolutely incredible sandwich earlier this week at The Harp, a Irish bar here in Milwaukee.

They call it the Ultimate Grilled Cheese Sandwich, and it is. It is cheddar, mozzarella, and some other third cheese that I forget. On top of the cheese are crumbled bacon, diced tomato, scallions, and sunflower seeds! Not a combination I would have thought of, but it works. I had that with their freshly-made chips and a pint of Harp. Best lunch I've had in a long time.

If I am allowed to, I'm going to have hardboiled eggs and whole-wheat rotini on top of baby greens, with Good Seasons Italian dressing.

But I suspect I'm going to be shanghai'd to the local Turkish restaurant's brand-new lunch buffet instead.
