It's started, and it doesn't look good for him. (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/04/26/wspect126.xml)Earlier in the day prosecutor Alan Jackson had outlined the case against Spector , describing him as a man with ‘a rich history of violence against women involving guns’, who ‘when confronted with the right circumstances and situation turns sinister and deadly.
Jackson told the jury, ‘You’re going to be introduced to the real Phil Spector.’
Jackson went on to describe incidents involving four women who will testify that Spector threatened them with guns in the past, and which Jackson said demonstrated a recurring pattern of behaviour in the accused.
This pattern always began with Spector drinking to excess, and moved on to ‘romantic interest’, Jackson said.
It usually involved Spector and a woman being ‘home alone’. When a woman tried to leave, Jackson said, Spector would become enraged and pull a gun, forcing her to stay.I just found out that Lana Clarkson was a bit player in one of my favorite movies Amazon Women on the Moon.

He is guilty as hell. It is really only a question as to if the 'Celebrity Exemption' in California law extends to producers.
(You see his picture? A man with his money should have someone tell him how to dress.)

Well, the testimony (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-spector10may10,1,4189768.story?ctrack=1&cset=true) is bearing out the prosecutor's outline.
Good lord, what a dangerous loony.

Just remember. His lawyer is one Bruce Cutler. One of of his lawyers anyway. You may remember him. He's the guy who gave John Gotti his teflon suit. It wasn't until the judge tossed Cutler off the final trial for some kind of conflict of interest that they were able to keep the jury untouched and get the conviction.
Guy *knows* how to work a trial and a jury.

Not really following it, but I loved the page boy blond wig.

I've been watching it on Court TV I think he's probably guilty, but it's not a slam dunk. One of the women who testified had to also testify that after the gun incident, that she also had further interaction (I think she did some work) with him at a later date which has to damage her credibility.

Until I clicked crow's link, I thought the photo from the OP must be from 1977. Hell, until I saw the caption, I thought it was a woman.

Uh, what? The West Coast seems to be MORE susceptible to lawyer hijinks.

Really. If a washed-up football player can get away with double murder, I don't see why a reasonably well-known producer can't get away with just one.
Seriously, I'm not really following it, but what I've heard makes it sound like a mental ward might be more appropriate than prison. Spector is pretty much the poster child for the Partnership For A Drug-Free America.

OJ's attorneys were LA boys. The judge is already pissed at Bruce Cutler's BS. I have a feeling that LA denizens will be turned off by this guy.

Was Phil Spector the inspiration for the evil record producer in Phantom of the Paradise?
