A few days ago while being even more sleepy at work than normal, I decided (after dragging myself back awake) to look up narcolepsy. It was a farely interesting read and a number of the symptoms definately applied (I fall asleep crazy fast(when Im not in phantom pain that is) and I start having dreams immediately). That night after lying down to go to bed my GF and I are chatting a bit, and I tell her about what I read about narcolepsy.
Well, I managed to not finish my description, as I fell asleep about halfway through :smack:
Think this is a sign? Im not sure what the point of getting formally diagnosed would be, as there is no cure and I'm not taking amphetamines, at all.

IIRC, there're a coupla posters here that are narcoleptic and can answer better, but I feel you. When I had my sleep studies done, the techs were amazed at how quickly I dropped into REM -- both times, it was suggested that I be in-depth tested for narcolepsy. I never have been. Seems that it was ruled out (somewhat) on a technicality on my first sleep study.
Funny story, though. Get a sleep study done and see what you find out. The point would be that there are some great non-stimulant drugs out there that help with the fatigue. Provigil is one (I think). It helps to know the problem for what it is -- it could actually be sleep apnea (which is what I was actually diagnosed with) and that can be treated pretty effectively and needs to be treated since it is considered a potentially fatal issue.

Until you get it verified by a doctor, I lean towards confirmation bias.

If you fell asleep while describing narcolepsy to your GF, maybe it's a sign that you have a boring GF.

Sorry no, she is lots of fun, I just crash at nighttime, and hard. Doesnt matter much what I'm doing, I'll fall asleep. I can be watching tv, playing on my computer, building something, if I get tired, I pass out, even during these activities.

Although it usually works, I have gone to sleep after taking provigil.
(But I take a lot of meds at night.)
Once I take my night meds, I am done for. I have about ten minutes and I am OUT. I have gone to sleep with food in my mouth and hand. (Really pretty picture, isn't it?)
Once the fire alarm went off in a hotel and I just couldn't get myself awake enough to get out. So my husband left me "to go check on things." Uh huh.

What I think is that you should go to a doctor and have a trained professional give you advice on this subject. Not to be a buzzkill or anything. :D
