Came across this web-site the other day: Robert A. Heinlein Centennial (http://www.heinleincentennial.com/).

With all the Dopers who are interested in RAH, are any planning on going to the Centennial?

Jeanne Robinson will update us on her Stardance zero-gee dance film
Astrophysicist, author & Heinlein associate Yoji Kondo will be presenting the Heinlein Award
Author, gadfly and filmmaker J. Neil Schulman - and we'll be screening his new film "Lady Magdalene's" right after the Gala!
6Hugo nominee John Scalzi
The man who folded himself, David Gerrold
Science fiction's newest Grand Master Nebula Award winner, James E. Gunn
Science Fiction Writer's Association President (and our Master of Ceremonies) Robin Wayne Bailey

I seriously thought about going this year. But it's a long way, and to be honest I was a little worried about it being a letdown. My biggest reason for going was to simply celebrate the man's 100th birthday in style, but I'm not really the convention type.

There will be at least some observation at Comic-Con, so we will be there to celebrate the Old Man's accomplishments. This is a big year for anniversaries: 30 years (Star Wars), 10 years (Buffy), 100 years (Heinlein)....going to be fun.

AUGH!

IF I had known at the beginning of the year, my wife would have insisted I go. She knows how important RAH and his work is to me.

Heck, I finally started donating blood regularly, largely out of a sense of obligation to The Master and his memory.

Dang it.

If I weren't helping run *our* convention that weekend (InConJunction XXVII (http://www.inconjunction.org)) I might've tried to. However, I'll be busy. ;)

If any Dopers want to show up in Indianapolis at a convention that weekend though, I'll be around.
