Inspired by this thread (http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=428478).

Things that always make me wanna jump around/mosh even when I am not at a concert are divided into these:

Songs that have "Oy! Oy!" parts you can pump your fist to:
-- Godspeed by Anberlin. My current favorite and I'm seeing them next weekend!
-- Half of Dropkick Murphys stuff

Punk songs that have a buildup to a heavy part that you can burst out with jumping and going wild when it happens:
-- 10 Minutes to Downtown by the Get Up Kids
-- At Your Funeral by Saves the Day

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" - Nirvana

I did mosh in the nineties. :D

Green Day - "American Idiot"

Ozzy - "Crazy Train"

"Vasoline" - STP

There's tons more, but Nirvana never fails to help me get my mosh on.

I saw them recently and they had the gnarliest mosh pit I've seen in 10 years. They practically define "OY! OY! OY!".

I gotta go with God Save The Queen, Anarchy In The UK, Lust for Life (diminished somewhat due to ubiquitous TV commercials) and Blitzkrieg Bop. Yeah, I'm into the classics.

"5 Minutes Alone" - Pantera

Methinks Electrical Storm doesn't know what moshing is.

"Somebody Put Something In My Drink" by The Ramones.

I'm old, you see.

"Self Esteem" by Offspring.

They actually played that at a ROTC Military Ball, and since we engineering majors didn't have any dates, we moshed. Good time.

I don't mosh, but "Pump It Up" by Elvis Costello really gets me going. I can't stop my feet.

I saw NiN in a small club back when "Pretty Hate Machine" came out and HOLY SHIT! The pit was intense as hell and I was really glad to have worn my steel toe boots that night even though it was hotter than hell. I was the only chick in the pit and it was fun, fun, fun!

If I tried to do that now I'd be in the hospital. Ah, the good old days...

Most stuff by the Ramones, the Misfits, NIN, Bad Religion and Ministry.

Ramones especially. My first experience in the pit, first stage dive, first crowd surfing, etc. All thanks to the Ramones.

Craziest pit I've ever been in was definitely NIN. I was sore for days after.

Gotta go with Dropkick Murphys and Bad Religion too.

I saw them both last September, and was right up front. It was SO worth the bruises.

It was SO worth the bruises. If I knew enough songs by BR, they would be one of the best singalong punk bands as many of their songs have harmony singing in the first place. But I only have 1 album by them and the one time I saw BR I had no albums (I came to see The Promise Ring,) and all their songs sounded the same.

Then again, they do seem to have a lot of songs that have a good part where you can start to really dance, as opposed to NOFX, who not only all sound the same in concert but seem to be ceaselessly fast music offering no respite, and I'm not in good enough shape to mosh for 1 1/2 hours straight.

Plus, the one time I saw NOFX I had 3 freakin albums by them and they only played two songs I knew from them, and they're not worth $70 in investment to enjoy a concert.

I'm going to Warped next week and Bad Religion will be there. I might see them if they don't conflict with Co&Ca and Anberlin, and I'm not too tired from being in the Florida sun, but I don't have high hopes for them. Then again, it might be fun to just listen to.

*elbows everyone aside*

If you like punk rock, but you call your slam dancing "moshing," you need to send Anthrax a Father's Day card for siring your vocabulary. In their honor, an all-Anthrax Top Ten:

10. Metal Thrashing Mad
9. Fueled
8. Room for One More
7. Crush
6. Antisocial
5. What Doesn't Die
4. Among The Living
3. Madhouse
2. Got The Time
1. Caught In A Mosh (of course)

Any song off of AFI's first couple of albums.

Practically all of the Misfits, Ramones and Black Sabbath.

Anything off of Metallica's first four albums.

The biggest pit I've ever seen was at a Primus concert to the song of Southbound Pachyderm. It was dark and smokey and you couldn't see the other side of the pit. It was kind of scary going in. I got lost in it and I couldn't find my friends untill after the show when we met back at the car.

I never heard of BR before the concert, I'd come to see Dropkick (heck, I can't even remember the two openers as I missed the first one because of the timing from work and the second I spent in line buying beer :p ) but I stayed where I was after Dropkick because I figured what the hey, I was having fun and hyped up already.
