I had work on my birthday, and my boss didn't even let me have a free meal. Oh well, that was month's ago.

Friday night was a Yelp event at Ireland's 32 at which a friend of mine played.
Saturday, I went to Lucky 13.
Sunday, I went to Bring Your Own Big Wheel (http://www.flickr.com/photos/troymccluresf/sets/72157600059184472) and then to the Rogue Ale House.
I'm not a huge birthday person per se, I just like to throw a party.

Well, my birthday was yesterday, so I'm glad you asked... ;) Two of my friends and I went to a strip club, where they were having an all-male revue. Shy, meek little me had some drinks(including a jello shot that was, um, served, through the front of a guy's undies), squeezed a lot of butts, did a lot of screaming, found at least one interesting way of getting cash into a man's thong... and generally had the time of my frikkin LIFE.

My fiance took the day off work. We bummed around the apartment, I got massages all day, and we went out for dinner at a cheap Chinese please. It was nice. :)

Pretty much the same thing I do every year: answered the door to trick-or-treaters and watched old horror movies on TV. I think my husband took the kids out and I stayed home, and my parents came over. We snarfed popcorn and Halloween candy and guzzled soda while watching the movies. There was one about a woman who became a Quaker and lived in Bedlam for a while, IIRC. That was odd.

It was back in May, but my wife and I had some friends come over, we grilled burgers, played cornhole and hung out in the yard. After it got too dark we went inside and played Nintendo with friends (Super Nintendo...heh).
I didn't work that day, but I worked every day around it.

King Lear at the Stratford Festival (it was quite good) and dinner at they Keystone Alley Cafe (also quite good).

I never work on my birthday, it's a little rule I like to live by. This year I had a lie-in, had a lazy start to my day then went to meet my mother in town for a mooch round the shops and a long lunch.
In the evening, 'im indoors cooked dinner for me and we lazed around on the sofa watching films and slurping champagne.
Next year, my birthday's on a Friday so it'll be a long weekend for me, and the Levellers are playing the night before at a local venue so I've already suggested to 'im indoors that Levs tickets would be a very acceptable buffday pressie!

Yeah, I never work on my birthday, either -- and since it's on 12/31, there's always at least one day off after it as well.
Last year ... hm. Had a friend in from out of town, we went bumming around Old City, hit a couple of used bookstores and went out to lunch -- then went to a New Year's party at my sister's that night. Very pleasant.

Less than three weeks ago. I worked the night before and the night after, so the birthday itself was pretty quiet. My parents, brother and cousin took me to dinner a few days afterwards, and two days ago a friend came over and gave me huge amounts of snacks and drinks. We played Star Trek Monopoly. What can I say, we're geeks, and there's something funny about saying "Starfleet Orders! Incoming Transmission!" or "Captain's Log, stardate 45377.8" instead of "Community Chest" and shit.
I suspect my ex has a gift for me when I see her this Wednesday.

I worked and my son and his girlfriend took me out to lunch. I went to dinner, too, I think. We take the whole month for our birthday. It's so hard to fit everything in to a specific day, so we just celebrate it for a month. My family has tons of stuff in June, so we have an all-purpose party, as well.

Friday before - trip to very nice nudist resort I had never been to before. Spent all day soaking up the sun and talking to some very nice folks.
Saturday (actual birthday) - About an hour's drive from resort to a bed and breakfast on the Eastern Shore of MD. Spent the day sailing the Bay, visiting St. Michael's, eating crabs, drinking cold beer. Wonderful dinner that night fixed by the chef/owner of the B&B.
Sunday - Back to the resort for the day and then back home.
It was a good one.

I spent the day with my sister and son. Started with yummy breakfast out, did some school shopping for Junior and surprise! my sister paid for my cart too (many thanks to her!!!). With the "chores" done we went to see Ratatouille.
On the drive home we enjoyed the second half of an audio bok that we'd started when I drove him north for his summer visits to assorted relatives.
In the evening we went to a local Chinese buffet for dinner. Not 4 stars but something we all like and no dishes to wash.
Thinking back it was one of my better birthdays in recent years. Thanks for the reminder.

Spent a nice evening at home with the missus. She set up a beer tasting, where we blind-taste-tested about 16 different micro-brews. Also, she had delivered a bake-at-home pizza from the Best Pizza Place in the Universe (St. Louisans on the board will know which one I mean). And, she made a gooey butter cake.

My B-day being December 25th, I walked around a while, sat at home and played CDS, had dinner at a friend's house and then we drove to NYC and back to look at the decorations, had dinner leftovers for supper, watched TV and went to bed.

Last year my birthday was on a Saturday. In the morning I attended a funeral for a former co-worker. After that I met my grandma, sisters, and nieces for lunch and afterward we went to a fall arts & crafts show. That evening my husband and I ordered in and watched a movie. It was a nice way to spend a birthday ... well, except for the funeral part.
This year my birthday's on a Sunday (this coming Sunday as a matter of fact). I'll probably celebrate with my family on Saturday by going out to lunch and attending the same craft fair as last year. It's kind of a tradition. On Sunday I'll probably just hang out at home and watch the football game.

I almost never do anything for my birthday (I usually won't even tell people the date) but on my last one (in May), I turned 40 and had just bought a house so I threw a big party for me. I bought beer and snacks and probably had around 60 people total (they came in waves). I kept telling people that it wasn't a birthday party sonobody would feel obligated to bring anything. It was fun.

I spent the Friday before with two friends in Philadelphia and the Saturday with a third friend in New Jersey. All day Sunday was spent driving back to Tennessee since I got no sleep the night before and Monday was spent recuperating.
I think I worked on Tuesday, which was my actual birthday.

Last birthday?
*tries to think* Well, I went with my best friend to the casino. We were thinking of hitting the club after supper (they have a good buffet at the casino) but we ended up staying and playing instead. I came out ahead by a little, then we went home.
This year, in almost 2 months, I will be on a retreat that weekend. We are slated to come back home on my birthday but I'm looking forward to it. It'll be the first time away from my son since he was born, and I expect to just relax.

My birthday was this past Saturday and me, my SO and some friends did the Skyline at C.O.P. (http://www.canadaolympicpark.ca/Pages/ThingsToDo/Skyline.asp) .
500 meters long, 100 meter drop, 140 km's/hr. It was a blast.
Then BBQ, brunch the next day with my family members, and afternoon gathering with the SO's family.

My birthday too is in October. My last birthday was my 40th, and my brother and his wife threw me a big party. It was only my second birthday since 2000 that I haven't been in Tokyo, so it was less hard-core drinking than usual. :)

Last year my birthday was on a Thursday, and I don't think I did anything special on the day itself. I might have gone out to lunch with some co-workers; I don't remember. The following Saturday I went out to dinner with my best friends (my mom was supposed to come down from Maryland, but she wound up being sick that weekend).
This year my birthday is this Friday (shoutout to yellowval!), and I will be going to the Washington Nationals baseball game. Which isn't anything special, because my boyfriend and I have season tickets, but I've also booked a limo for us so that we can both drink at the game and not have to worry about driving. So it'll be like a regular Friday night when there's a ballgame, just with better transportation. :) There are baseball games the rest of this weekend -- in fact they're the last 3 home games of the season, and the last baseball games ever at RFK Stadium -- so dinner with my mom and best friends will be next weekend.

Last year my birthday was during spring break. I turned 21. Some (fraternity) brothers of mine and I were at Daytona beach, in a hotel room overlooking what was pretty much *the* pool deck to be on during the week. Ever seen any crazy ass spring break videos? It was pretty much that.

The Friday before I worked. Got a delivery of gorgeous flowers from my husband, a card from my co-workers, and was treated to lunch by my manager and some higher-ups, where 2 Speakeasy Ales went straight to my head and made the rest of the afternoon pretty fun. (We actually all go out for lunch every other Friday anyway, and everyone drinks either a glass of wine or a beer or two, this was just the first time they actually had such an affect on me.)
My birthday was on a Saturday this year, and we'd planned on having friends over anyway, so we had a little party at our place and I had a great time.
My oldest son stopped by with a present for me - the Anniversary edition of Tomb Raider for the PC. Still haven't played it though.

Well, I posted this right after, but it may bear repeating. Last month on my 80th birthday, my "kids" and I climbed a 3400-foot mountain. That night we went out and ate about a ton of sushi.

I worked. It wouldn't occur to me to take the day off just for my birthday.
My boss took me out to lunch, then (since my actual b-day was on a Wednesday) on our regular Thursday Date Night, Himself took me to a nicer restaurant than we usually hit on date night, and we took a couple of friends we really enjoy along with us.
That's pretty much par for the course for my birthdays--except for my 40th, and we had a party for that, but again, not on the actual birthday, but on the Saturday after it.

HoosierDaddy was out of town so my Mommy had me and the girls over. She made my favorite dinner and peach blueberry pie (also my FAV). She also got one of those margarita bucket things. My dad and I tasted it, thinking, hmmm.. this isn't quite as good as the ones a bartender makes. I didn't have the heart to tell her that you actually have to add tequila

My girlfriend took me to dinner.
The larger world always celebrates my birthday, though. Big party, lots of noise and activity. People wear silly hats and blow on little party horns. There's even this glowing ball thing they drop in New York to signify the end of my previous year and the start of my glorious new year of life.
I think everybody in New York is going to be very disappointed when I kick-off in 30 or 40 years.

I was in Paris, nearing the end of a 3 week long trip through Europe with two friends. We wandered around, climbed the Arc de Triomphe, looked at the Eiffel Tower from below, and went to the Louvre. We went out to dinner with a bunch of our hostel-mates at a Tibetan resturaunt in Montmarte, got crepes for desert, and wandered around Sacre Coeur. It was awesome.

I honestly don't remember, but if it was anything like most of my birthdays, I went to work, didn't tell anybody about "my special day", went out to dinner with my wife, and maybe watched a movie instead of just regular TV. That's about it.

Two weeks ago, I threw a big karaoke party at an hotel for my family and friends, then took the actual birthday off work. It was my fortieth, though. Normally I just go for a few drinks and a nice meal.
Went to A&W with Mrs. FtG for a root beer, fries and a Mama burger. Of course, the only one in our area is one of those combo A&W/KFCs so they didn't have an official Mama burger. (No, I don't go for Papa burgers since cheese on a burger is double-plus-ungood.)
It's a childhood thing.
(There was a family thing a few days earlier on the weekend that passed for being my birthday party.)

It was a Tuesday. I went to work.
Birthdays aren't a big deal to me. Although my birthday in 2010 is worth looking forward to - I can retire that day. :D
I was visiting my parents in Colorado and got to experience a real-life Seinfeld moment. In the morning, Pop called the restaurant we wanted to go to, and made a reservation. When we arrived at the appointed time, we were told they don't make reservations on homecoming weekend and someone made a mistake. I knew Pop would be pissed (he was parking the car) so I tried the immortal line "Oh, you can take a reservation but you can't hold a reservation" to no avail. We drove around looking for a good, uncrowded place (Pop doesn't like to wait) and finally ended up at a Country Buffet. It was perfectly fine (Pop likes all-you-can-eat) but he felt bad it wasn't a nicer place.
We went home for dessert and presents (the mini-chopper I asked for, and a beautiful pottery mug/soup bowl). So, nice but fraught with upheaval there for a while.
We went out to dinner with a bunch of our hostel-mates at a Tibetan resturaunt in Montmarte, got crepes for desert, and wandered around Sacre Coeur. It was awesome.[off-topic]I got the best "reveal" there. We were on a bus tour and the guide did an excellent thing. He kept our attention up the hill the whole way: "On your right you'll see blah blah blah" all the way until finally, "And on your left you'll see...Paris!" and it worked because a huge gasp went up and we were all blown away by the view. Nice job, dude! [/off-topic]

My birthday was on a Saturday this year, and since I like to take the day off work for my birthday (I have my own business, I can do that sort of thing), I declared Friday to be "Jessica Day" instead and gave my brother/co-worker the day off. My other co-worker was already off that day, so he played a round of "Jessica Day" golf.
I told my brother that in order to have the day off, he had to promise to tell people that the reason he had the day off was "because Jessica is awesome!" I talked to his sister-in-law later and she told me he indeed told her that :)
On Jessica Day I slept in, played with my dog, had my boyfriend follow me around for some shopping (not something he or I usually do), we went out for pizza, and then we saw Hot Fuzz.
The next day, my actual birthday, was also my not-quite-yet-sister-in-law's wedding shower and I was really surprised and honored when they brought out an ice cream cake just for me!
I also came home from the shower to not one but TWO deliveries of flowers from my cousin and my friend.
I had a really, really awesome birthday this year.

Mine was 13 days ago - it was a Wednesday but I didn't have to work. A friend from work took me out for lunch, which was just lovely. Then I went to my parent's house for dinner and Mum cooked a roast. Mmmm.... two meals I didn't have to make myself. THAT'S a birthday.
The following day my best friend came to town and stayed with me overnight. Haven't seen her in months. We had a ball together, shopping and dining and giggling. We also did something a little special - she came with me to my first ultrasound and we saw my baby for the first time. How incredibly exciting!
On the Saturday night my brother and his wife came to town and we went out to dinner together, again with two co-workers (actually, my brother works at the same place, so technically I went to dinner with three co-workers) and it was just delicious. Afterwards, we went to my local bar to see my favourite local band play. It's been a few months since I managed to make it to one of their shows, and they were sweet enough to make a fuss of me when I showed. They put on a great evening and we all had a wonderful time (it's nice to know they still sound good even when I'm drinking water instead of Bacardi all night).
This birthday was a good one :)

My birthday is this Wednesday : ) while I have to spend the day in class, in the evening I'm heading out to dinner with a bunch of friends, then to a joint birthday party at a bar with some other people whose birthday it is this week also (strangely enough).
Last year, I had just moved away to school so I spent much the day in class and receiving phone calls from people back home wishing happy birthday. I went out later that evening. The cabbie pulled over to let us out, but he was not fully off to the side as I thought he was (stopped in a no-stop zone). As I was getting out of the cab onto the street, which is a main thoroughfare that was not busy at the time, a city bus sped by and smashed into the door, taking it out of my hand and bending it clear back towards the driver's door. It made a THUNK-THUNK-THUNK noise as it banged a bunch of times along the length of the bus, narrowly missing taking my leg with it. Note to self: ALWAYS climb over to the sidewalk side to get out of cars. It gave me a good scare, but the rest of the night went off without a hitch.

It was a Saturday this year, just over a month ago. It also happened to be my 40th birthday, so we had a few friends over. I drank way too much Scotch, and have absolutely no recollection of the last few hours of the evening.
It was the first time in my life I ever drank so much that I can't remember what happened. I know I "slept" through part of the evening, but there is also photographic evidence that I was awake and active for at least part of the time...I just can't recall a damn thing.
I figure I'll try it again when I'm 80 :)
