From the news sites I read, I have found out that there is a huge multiplication bug in Microsoft Excel 2007. This Google Group (http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.excel/browse_thread/thread/2bcad1a1a4861879/2f8806d5400dfe22?hl=en#2f8806d5400dfe22) provides the bread and butter of the problem. To summarize, there is a large set of two numbers that when multiplied together should give 65 535. However, Excel shows these results as 100 000!.

Try it out, open Excel 2007 and try some of these combinations and then check them with a calculator:
=5.1*12850
=10.2*6425
=20.4*3212.5
=40.8*1606.25
=77.1*850
=154.2*425
=212.5*308.4
=308.4*212.5
=425*154.2
I wouldn't use Excel 2007 for anything critical until a patch is issued.

I don't have Excel 2007. I just find it ironic that I used Bill's calculator to check your numbers... and they all worked. Of course re-writing that particular (mundane) piece of code was probably a better idea...
